If Fender made an all-in-one control unit that combined the MS2, MS4, and EXP-1, would you buy it?

What do you get when you connect an MS2 footswitch, an MS4 footswitch, and an EXP-1 expression pedal to your Mustang amp at the same time?

A BIG MESS!

Why doesn't Fender make a single unit that combines the functionality of all these footswitches in one? Maybe something like a smaller version of the Mustang Floor, but without the processing so it's strictly a control unit for the amp. This "MSEXP-421 Control Pedal" would have just a single cable that splits at the end to plug into the 2 jacks on the back of the Mustang amp. Simple. Neat. Clean. Effective. Are you listening, Fender?

MS2 - aprox. $35
MS4 - aprox. $65
EXP-1 aprox. $90
----
Total-aprox. $190

Mustang Floor- $ 199 , I got mine with a $20 off store coupon and was $191 out the door.
Given the math, why not just buy the Mustang Floor, and be done with it. Plus double the effects. OR, I sold my Mustang IV and got a Ultimate chorus 212, Mustang Floor and still had enough money left over to shmooze the wife with a nice dinner. Sounds better, more functionality, and don't have to worry about " the Fizz" coming to visit. Just sayin.

I vote non of the above

I was going to suggest much the same. Or...

a single cable

Or how about being able to daisy-chain all three switches together, with short cables, then a single cable to the amp, rather than needing two full cables all the way back to the amp?

The Cyber Twin had this, I believe. I don't know why Fender dropped the idea for the Mustang line. Probably cost saving, the same as the reason for dropping other good features from the Cyber Twin. This harks back to other topics where myself and others have suggested to Fender they should bring out a higher-end "Mustang Pro" or "Mustang Studio" (or whatever you want to call it) model.

The combined unit would obviously need to be cheaper than the three items separately, for this to make economic sense. Although here in UK, where the Mustang Floor is somewhat dearer than US prices (approx $350!!! ), the cost of the separate switches/pedals is quite a bit less than the Floor. Also, the MS-4 comes with the M-IV, so buying the other two isn't an onerous expense.

Ultimate Chorus 212

Looks a nice amp from what I can find about it; is it still made, it doesn't seem to be on Fender's website? :( Would the Frontman 212R be the closest current Fender model?

Or one could feed the output from the M-Floor into the fx return of the Mustang amp, and just the latter as a power amp, if one wants floor/foot control of all the effects.

Maybe Fender (and other manufacturers/retailers) should include 'dinner vouchers' with every equipment purchase, to assist in this important aspect of buying new gear? :D

It was a model from the early 90's. Still somewhat readily available used in the US. Very sweet clean sounds although the overdrive channel is a little dated but usable. The Princeton Chorus is it's little brother ( I believe) and is a 210. Both have Mono and Stereo effects loops and built in chorus. I have both and love them. The Frontman 212 is, I think, a sort of stripped down version. It doesn't appear to have the effects loop options these two have. The UC and PC are true stereo amps and made in the US.

Especially Roland and Gibson  for me anyway, I've dropped a few mortgage payments with them for sure

I still have my old Ultimate Chorus 212. That's what I replaced with the MIII.

I could see why it would work out well with the Mustang Floor, it has plenty of clean power.

To me, the idea of pulling one controller out of it's own (Fender Brand  ) gig bag and being able to plug in with very little fuss, is very appealing...

I chose no. I assume it will cost too much, considering the current switches and expressional pedal are overpriced. Also it probably won't work with non-Mustang amps, and I don't see myself investing much in amp-specific accessories.

If only all companies could agree on a standard for external switches and pedals... well, maybe they have partially with MIDI. But a nice Ethernet-based standard might well be the solution. Also for wireless.

...as far as I am concerned, and I preface my statement by saying that I own a Mustang V, that I plan on having my Mustang V for a very long time. As long as the software can be updated, and is updated, this amp stays relevant. A Fender (Mustang) specific pedal is no threat to me or anyone owning an amp in this line...

...and also I don't think that owning a pedal of this sort will stop the true gear heads from buying other pedals and such...

I agree and the cost could be half of the combined cost for instance you would only have one jack as opposed 4. One casting as opposed to three for the bodies. One packing. One inventory item. Etc Etc Etc. Add some functionality, ability to switch through banks of 3 presets for instance.

I think fender should have also added a cat 5 type connector for a larger foot controller to be used with the mustang III-V amps,my line 6 spider I & II have this connection for the various line 6 floorboards and footswitches, the cat 5 cables are cheaper then midi cables and would cost less for fender to have this connection then a midi connector if they chose one for a possible new floorboard for a future series of mustang amps.
