Right. I guess the reason is that the tube amp is been miced and the mic in question adds some compression... of course you don't need to mic the Mustang... :)

The amazing thing to me about the DSP in the mustangs is not related to the sound itself (that is easy to fake, even solid state amps from the 70's were able to do it) but the tube dynamics (how, for example, when you pluck a note it distorts at attack but gently goes back to clean at sustain) and the harmonic content (that makes the sound warm) that is were the Mustangs excel and why they get tube amp owners scratching their heads.
