I tried to import a preset and save it to the amp, and it seemed to work, until I loaded it that is. No sound at all. I can load the preset from my computer, and it's fine. But when I save it to the amp it doesn't work.

First thing to check is whether the preset was definitely saved to the Mustang Floor (I assume by "amp" you mean Mustang Floor from the topic title?). Do the settings for the preset, as displayed on the M-Floor's LCD screen, match the values for the new preset? Or another easily-visible way to verify this would be to rename the preset, save it to the M-Floor again, and check that the new name appears for that preset on the M-Floor's LCD screen after you've saved it.

To clarify: you mean that all other presets work as normal, and you get sound, but this new preset you've saved to the M-Floor is completely silent? You change nothing on the M-Floor or the amp/headphones/whatever it's connected to, except for switching to this new preset?

If that's the case, the most obvious things to check are all the volume/level settings in the preset, in case one of them is inadvertently zero.

There could be several of these: the preset's overall volume, the amp model's master volume, the 'level' parameters of any effects in the preset, etc.

Conversely, if you get no sound out of your M-Floor with any preset, check the 'Level' knob on the back of the M-Floor, along with (obviously - just mentioning for completeness) all other interconnections and volume knobs from your guitar to the final amp/speakers/headphones/whatever.

Scott, I really appreciate the reply. The answer to your question...

"To clarify: you mean that all other presets work as normal, and you get sound, but this new preset you've saved to the M-Floor is completely silent? You change nothing on the M-Floor or the amp/headphones/whatever it's connected to, except for switching to this new preset?

... is yes. The factory presets all work as usual, and the new preset works as well when I load it from my PC. However, after saving the new preset to the M-Floor there is no sound at all. I'll step through your tests when I get home from work this evening.

Thanks!
Bruce

Another thought, based on some other recent posts here...

Do you have an EXP-1 pedal connected to your M-Floor? If so, try disconnecting it and see if that changes anything.

Also, do you have the latest firmware, 1.4? Fender seem to be suggesting to anyone with M-Floor problems to update to the latest firmware version, sounds like (pardon the pun - as your problem is no sound :) ) volume issues are one thing addressed in the firmware.

This topic is the firmware announcement / download link:

Yes, I did update the firmware to the latest version when I first connected it. But, I also performed a restore to the factory settings once, so maybe that removed the patch. I'll verify the firmware version. Thanks for the tip.

Sorry that I wasn't able to attempt your other tests last night. I had an emergency software deployment that ate up the small amount of spare time that I have in the evenings. I'll definitely work on it either tonight or tomorrow morning (off work tomorrow) and report the results.

In the meantime, I really appreciate the help!

In light of another active thread here at the moment, that also describes an amp going "silent" when a preset isdownloaded from the 'net and then transferred from FUSE to the amp:

...what preset are you downloading? Is it the "empty" preset, authored by PITA? If it is, do you have the same problem with other downloaded presets, or do they work fine?

No, it's the 60s Sparkle preset, by Fender. I also tried a couple others, just to see if it was that one preset. I also tried comfortably-numb and stray-cat-strut (I think those are the names - I'm at work right now).

Okay, I've got it now. Apparently, I had upgraded to the bundled firmware upgrade, which was 1.3. I downloaded 1.4 and upgraded to that, and then tried it again.

I began by restoring the original presets, and then I loaded the 60s-sparkle preset in order to verify it was functional, which it was. I then saved the 60s-sparkle preset to location 00 on the M-floor. At first, it didn't make a sound , and I though, here we go again. So I switched to the preset on the PC, and it worked. I switched back to the Amp, and it suddenly was working. Sweet!

Scott, thanks for all your help. I really do appreciate it.

So, this has reared its ugly head again. I had saved the 60s Sparkle preset to the M-floor after upgrading to 1.4, and everything was fine... for a while. A couple days ago I fired up the M-floor, for probably the 5th or 6th time since I had successfully loaded the preset, and suddenly there is no sound from it again. All the factory loaded presets still operate normally, and I even saved one from the floor to my PC, and then saved it into the 0th position, which is where the 60s Sparkle was saved, and it works fine.

As much as I like the floor, it is really beginning to piss me off. :x

What firmware version is your Mustang Floor?

What FUSE version are you using?

Make sure both are the latest versions: 1.4 and 2.6.0.35 respectively, I believe. (Although there is a later Beta version of FUSE also available, 2.6.1.something).

Fuse version : 2.6.0
Firmwave : dont know. How can I know ? I update ont Fender website.

A new information : I tried again to install a new preset. It don't work as before. But I saw that before I did this, all presets are with "volume" on the screen. After, som presets are always with "volume" and work ; others are with "pedal" and don't work.

hey guys, I posted a way to solve this issue in the other thread about importing Mustang 3-4-5 presets to the Floor. the fix is that you need to assign a valid use for the expressin pedal on the preset as the M3-4-5 do not seem to do it in a way the floor recognizes.

Hopefully fender will correct this minor glitch with a firmware upgrade, otherwise floor users will need to thinker using this workaround:

1- on fuse, select one floor preset that you saved but has no sound
2- press "control-E" to open pedal expression settings
3- on the second option on the top right, change from "Volume mode" to "expression mode" and then click okay at the bottom
4 - push the (now) red SAVE button on top right of the screen
5 - click okay again on the save dialog

from now on that preset will work, make any changes to the pedal behaviour if you like to assign it to other uses for that preset.

Time to make some noise!
