What is the post gain overdrive modeled after? And is this a different overdrive than the one that you can place before the amp?

I assumed the OD before the amp was modeled after a tube screamer but the post amp, rack mounted OD sounds different (in a great way).

All the effects are the same before or after the pre-amp, but if they are before the pre-amp, they affect the signal response of the pre-amp itself, normally giving you more saturation and coloring through the pre-amp tone controls.

The OD sounds pretty similar to a TS 808 particularly if you lower the bass control and increase mids and highs.

Actually I have noticed a difference in some effects (flanger, chorus, tremolo ...) they are mono in front of the amp and stereo after the amp.

Precisely. However, unless you're using headphones or using the USB out for recording, you'll only hear the stereo effect on the Mustang IV or V.

To me, the overdrive in the post position is less buzzy and smoother. Some players may not like that but I do.

I agree that the post OD is much smoother than pre OD. I guess no one knows what the post OD is modeled after huh?

I try to think of how it sounds to me rather than how it's supposed to sound according to a particular description issued by the manufacturer. All I know is that I like it better in the post position.
