Hi...I am new to the forum, and I just purchased a Mustang IV amp. I use Reaper as my DAW, and I also have a ART Project Series Mixer. I am trying to set up my audio in Reaper, but for some reason I cannot hear the audio. I can see the wave forms and see that it is playing but that is all. I downloaded the Fender Mustang ASIO, but apparently something is not right. Is it even necessary to use my mixer...and if so what is the signal chain. I have tried different options, but I cannot get these items to work in harmony so to speak. I would really appreciate any advice/input on this situation. Thanks in advance...

My system: Acer Aspire M3910...Intel Core i3...Windows 7 64 bit OS.

First, does sound output from your PC work at all - ie forget the Mustang amp, DAW, etc - in fact completely disconnect them. Can you hear MP3, WAV files, etc if you play them in Windows Media Player (or other audio player of your choice...)? Perhaps an obvious / basic question, but worth checking. Assuming that's all ok...

If your DAW is recording/displaying the waveform, then the connection / driver between your amp and DAW must be fine. That is, the problem probably isn't with the ASIO driver.

You could verify this by saving the recorded file and then just playing it back with (eg) Media Player. Does it play as expected, with sound?

If all that works, and you just can't hear the audio with your DAW, then the problem is with your DAW's audio output settings. I know nothing about Reaper so can't advise on its config, but from what you've said so far, that's where I'd suggest looking next.

Jus to add to what Scott-uk said, some DAWs (like Ableton), as soon as you choose an ASIO input they will start using ASIO also for output.
Please double check that the ASIO output is using the right output option, you may have several options, it takes a bit of trial and error (in my case I think ASIO sees like 5 different outputs...and only one works)
You don't need the guitar to test this, just load any mp3 on your DAW and play with ASIO until you can hear the output.

If this ousnd too confusing or you need extra details, just let me know.
