I have a Mustang V Head, sometimes when I am playing the Save button lights up for no particular reason. It does't seem to change anything but it kind of bothers me that without me tweaking anything the red light comes on. Anyone experienced the same?

Hi Ax Man Nano,

This is expected behavior. Any time you change a knob (other than the Master volume) or press a button or turn press the encoder knob, the amp sees that a setting has been changed on the current Preset. The Save light will go on and stay on until you either save the changes you have made or move to another Preset. Please let us know if we can assist further. Thanks.

Hi,

there is a minor glitch with the Mustang (3 in my case) regarding the save light. If you are using a preset and then enable the tuner, when you get out of the tuner mode the save button is red as if you changed anything.

Could this be solved with next firmware?

Hmmm, I don't see that behaviour (M-IV, but should behave same as M-III). Just using the tuner doesn't make the "save" light come on.

Maybe your tap/tuner button is faulty and has a bit of "contact bounce" such that the amp thinks you've hit 'tap' instead of (or as well as) 'tuner' ?

This doesn't seem to match what the OP said: "...without me tweaking anything the red light comes on..."

???

even if you bypass an effect, that light will come on.

so using the the foot switch to toggle an effect on or off, and that light comes on.

Thank you all for your replies, in particular to Fender staff, I think it is great that they monitor this forum.
I understand that if you change anything other than the master volume the save light comes on, but in my case I do not make any changes, I just change presets with the foot switch during playing and sometimes the red light comes on, not always. It doesn't seem to hurt anything, but I was just wondering if this was normal.

I assume you have the MS-4 footswitch in mode 1 (quick-access presets) or mode 2 (bank / up / down) to do this?

Could it be that you're accidentally hitting the left footswitch button and putting it into "mode 3" which causes the other buttons to turn individual effects within the current preset on and off (rather than changing to a different preset)?

As an earlier reply noted, this would cause the save button to light up.

scott-uk, you nailed it, that is exactly what I was doing.
Thanks for the insight.
