I'm completely confused, hope someone can help.

I've been searching the forums for a answer with no luck.

I bought a Mustang III for the size/power/price and cannot figure out how to bypass all of these effects. I'm a Metal head, love my pedals but cant seem to find a way to use them without being stuck on some vintage amp that sounds muffled, or in some effects loop.

I just want to use my own pedals for effects

Although it is nice to play with, how can I set this amp to Mustang III, like I bought. I've tried almost every amp model, the stompbox's etc and cannot even come close to a bright full sound I get with my pedals. Everything sounds like the amp is covered in pillows, no high and no low at all, they are all set into a mid fequency with no depth o character.

Help, I've had this amp for a couple weeks now and would hate to sell it already.

Any help would be wonderful.

Thanks in advance.

You can turn off all effects except the amp modelling. Simply press any of the stomp, mod, delay or reverb buttons if they're illuminated. The light will go off and the effect will be turned off.

As for the amp model, there are enough to give a full range of sounds, so there IS something in there for you, you just need to experiment until you find it. That's the trouble when there are so many choices, it takes a while to sort out the right one. I'd to it in stages, first find the closest amp model to the sound you want, then play with the cab simulation parameter plus of course the bass/middle/treble. There are other parameters too, but I'd suggest not worrying about those until you get the basic sound right.

If it still sounds muffled, move the amp away from a wall (if it's near one). Also angle it upwards so your head/ears are in the direct "line of fire" of the speakers. Guitar amps/speakers are notoriously directional, particularly the higher frequencies.

Finally, if you genuinely want a neutral amp with no effects, and want to use your existing pedals to create your tone, and you really can't get the sound you want from it (although I will be surprised if that's the case - it's very versatile) then the Mustang may not be the right amp for you. It is deliberately a modelling and effects amp - most people buy it for that reason, so that they don't need any other pedals etc (or maybe just a few...).

I use my effects pedals a lot. You just have to go through the pain of removing all the effects one preset at a time. That was one of the first things I did with this amp. I found it easier to load Fuse and remove the effects there. You just load each preset and 'close' the effects, and save.

Sounds like to me you need a plug & play tube amp.

Plug & Play tube amps don't have 12 Amp Models. And those built in effect some in plenty handy for the one time you need an effect that isn't in your pedal board.

I noticed you can turn off cab model, And the deluxe is probably the closest you get with the actual amp, Like speaker size. so I turn off cab model and get a clean deluxe model open, with no efx and go from there, Very simple. Once yo get a sound you like, save it as a preset and it is like any other amp.
