I think $199 is the new street price for the mustang floor and i would try to use the discount codes from musicians friend for even a better deal,i would suggest that anyone thinking of buying one wait until you get at least 15% off.

I just got my Musicians friend november 2012 catalog today and on the back of the catalog there is 15% off a single item $199+,there may be exclusions on some brands but i am not sure if fender is one of them?

Even if fender is on the exclusion list M.F. may still give anyone the 15% off on a mustang floorboard because about a month ago i was thinking about buying a epiphone standard les paul plain top that was 399.99 and it was on the exclusion list but M.F. did not even mention that is was on there list and was willing to give me what was at the time a 20% coupon discount. I found a used cherry sunburst plain top in mint condition at a local music store for only 250.00 so i did not get the epiphone les paul from M.F. even though i could have got 20% off a new one.

I bought one last week from GC, and they wouldn't honor the discount coupon that they advertised. They stated it was a "sale" price.

I do not go to G.C. anymore because of there deceptive sales tactics and pushing extended warranty's on almost every piece of gear that they sell,i wonder how long it will be before they try to sell you one for a set of guitar string's?

I am pretty sure that the new lower price of $199 for the mustang floor is not a sale price,G.C. just told you that because they did not want to give you a coupon discount. I would check out all the other online music retailers like american musical, sweetwater and sam ash just to name a few and if they have the mustang floor for $199 then i would say it is not a sale price but the new lower street price.

I just did a quick search and amazon and sweetwater had the mustang floor priced at 199.99 and did not mention them being on sale but were very low in stock,i think amazon had only one left! I wonder if these unit's are just selling fast or if fender is going to discontinue the mustang floor and come out with a new model?

I agree with everything you said but the reason I purchased the unit from GC is because I was able to order it online, and then pick it up at the local store by the time I got off work. Otherwise, I would have taken my business elsewhere.

It might be a "sale" price from Fender, rather than GC, but it can still be considered a "sale" price. The same thing held true for the Fender sale prices over the summer. The 15% off GC coupons wouldn't give you 15% off the sale price, even though the "sale price" originated with Fender rather than GC. It's not "deceptive," it's just how sale prices work, and the margin that results from them.

I got mine at Sam Ash (local store) They always meet any GC coupon and don't seem to care if the " manufacturer has chosen not to participate in this promotion".
$199.00 minus GC's $20 off $199 or more* = $179.00+tax ($192.00 out the door).
Works for me. There's enough markup on this stuff, if GC really cared about your business, they could still give you the discount.

Guitar center really has more of a bias for certain products they sell and sales tactic's pushing you for a extended warranty you do not really need ,for example if you wanted to buy a mustang or peavey vypyr the sales clerk may push the line 6 spider on you over the other amps mentioned and the mustang and peavey vypyr's have 5 year warranty's so i would also say that it can be deceptive trying to sell you an extended warranty on these amp's.
