I've spent way too much time trying to get this working, so I'm hoping someone here can shed some light on what I might be doing wrong. Installing the software that Fender recommends was a nightmare. Go here, go there, make an account everywhere, find your serials, pull your hair out, ect. I'm wondering how much of it was necessary if you already have a DAW.

Anyway, so, finally I'm all setup and it's still not working. I've tried both the Ableton lite program and Garage Band(also have PT, but haven't tried that yet). They both 'see' the Mustang amp as an input, yet I'm getting nothing when I hit record. No input, no output. The Mustang amp continues output when plugged in, so is there an amp setting or something that I am missing? Even FUSE is connecting with the amp, but still no input/output in the computer.

I'm on Mac OSX 10.6.8

Go into FUSE and check your advanced amp settings. Make sure USB Gain isn't at 0. That would effectively shut off your USB input from the amp.

Thanks for the reply. Good idea, the USB gain was set to zero. I turned it up but still nothing.

I don't get it. Check out this screen shot, it seems like it should be working. The Recording Level is grayed out, but the amp volumes are up, so I don't think that should matter.

According to Fender, "The Fender Mustang and Bronco 40 amps provide audio recording only, and not playback. You can use your built in sound device or a third-party device for your playback." So if this is the case why does my amp continue providing output? I have external speakers hooked up, too.

I'm a noob when it comes to DAW's and recording, so any other suggestions could help, no matter how obvious they might seem. Thanks.

I don't really have any idea why you get no signal into Garage Band. Is the screen shot from after you turned up the USB gain?

When it comes to playback the amp does not play back sound from your DAW. What happens is that your amps speaker isn't cut off by plugging in the USB connector, like it is when you plug in head phones. You can set the master volume at zero if you like, or you can dime it. The USB signal will still be intact.

Yeah, that screen shot is from after the USB gain was turned up.

Thanks for clearing up the playback thing. I was under the impression it meant the amp would stop making sound altogether, as if headphones were plugged in.

I'm not sure why, but it is now working! Perhaps because I restarted Garage Band? I suspect I might have also had the second amp volume turned down too low or something. I have no idea what fixed it, but I appreciate the help.
