Hi.

I just bought the Fender Mustang I and I am very impressed of the sound this little amp have. I am wondering how I can record onto my pc sounds from this amp via usb. I am relatively new to computer recording. I have installed Cakewalk Sonar X1 Studio and also bought the Amplitube Fender software that I would like to use inside Sonar X1.
I can see that I am using ASIO driver at the moment. Should I download the Fender ASIO driver as well? And how do I hook up the amp so I can record sounds into Sonar X1 via Amplitube Fender plugin? Thanks for replies. :)

Hi trontelemann,

I use ASIO4ALL and wors well with fender amps so far.
I use Ableton and don't know Sonar but, make sure when you start your software and the ASIO driver load to the system tray, to select only the mustang and the output of your PC card only, deselect all the rest.
From that point on it should be fairly easy to record to your application.
If dor whatever reason the output signal of your mustang is not strong enough, increase it using FUSE (Advanced amp settings, USB gain)

I'd suggest getting it all working first of all with the Ableton software that came with your amp. To help, Fender has several support articles and a video on how to set it all up. So that will give you some experience of the general things to do, and also allow you to check connectivity, compatibility, etc. Also it will be easier to get troubleshooting help from Fender (and others in this forum) if you're using the "standard package."

Once all that's working, then you can apply what you've learnt to configuring Sonar (or any other recording software). Again, I'd do it in stages: get Sonar working first on its own. Then worry about the Amplitube plugin.

As for which ASIO driver: I've seen reports that ASIO4ALL works with the Mustang amp. But if you have problems with that, try the Fender driver and follow the detailed instructions Fender provide for it.

Hi trontelemann,

You may also want to consider using the Fender Universal ASIO Driver. If you are on a 64bit Windows system, be sure to use the (Win 7) driver. I have included links for both below. And please let us know if we can assist further. Thanks.
