First day with my Mustang Floor, first problem. :?

When trying to update it, it got frozen. Fuse keeps on telling me to turn it off and on, I've done it several times, and still frozen.

I've downloaded Fuse Fender 2.6.1.35, update 1.4 (tried 1.3 too), and nothing. Button save flashing all the time.

I'm running iMac OS X, 10.6.8. Any help is much appreciated, thanks.

After a few hours of sweat and anguish, I found the solution. :)

I saw mentioned a similar issue on another thread about the Mustang Amp, and the solution was disconnect all the USB devices from the iMac, even though they're off.

I did it several times without success until I thought about the firewire port (used for my sound card), which must be disconnected as well. And voilá! Firmware updated, Mustang Floor resurrected, and relax. :D

Anyway, I think this bug must be fixed. I don't know if it is Fuse's problem, Mustang's problem, or iMac's problem, but the bug is there. :?

Firewire has nothing to do with USB so I don't think disconnecting Firewire peripherals was the solution to your problem. Something else happened along the way, like you may have shut down your computer at some point and restarted it?
I have two Firewire peripherals (hard drive and audio interface) plugged in all the time and I have not had any problems with my Mustang Floor and FUSE (update and use).

USB is not a good protocol when it comes to sharing the throughput between various devices that need different speeds. For example if you plug a USB hard drive with a USB keyboard on the same bus, the hard drive will suffer because the lower speed keyboard will slow down the entire USB bus.
That is why Fender recommends plugging the Mustang in a dedicated USB port with nothing else (no hub).

Belive it or not, disconnecting firewire cable was the solution, or, as far as I know, then things started to work. Previously I had disconnected all the USB ports (I have no hub, imac has 4 USB ports), and was getting crazy trying the same again and again (yeah, not an intelligent solution, I know…).

I restarted my computer a couple of times (when I erased and downloaded again Fuse, which was the other solution I found for the freeze problem, although it didn't work), but when my Mustang Floor "resurrected", only thing I had done was disconnect the firewire soundcard.

Anyway, whatever the reason may be, I've told it here because it can be useful to anyone with the same problem.

I've start to play and tweak today the Mustang Floor and, after two years of fighting with the POD HD500, in a couple of hours I've programmed 5 sounds that are much, much better than the ones I programmed in the POD. :)

This saturday I'll play live the Mustang and see how it goes. :D

I believe you but I am surprised :D

I'm glad you're having a good time with your Mustang Floor.

The missing word here, as discussed in other topics, is: disconnect all the AUDIO devices.

Quote:
disconnect the firewire soundcard

A-ha, that's the mystery solved. It's not because it's firewire (rather than USB), it's because it's an audio device.

So that's useful new information, maybe Fender can add it to their support articles: the emphasis should be on disconnecting all AUDIO devices, regardless of their connectivity method, not just disconnect USB (audio) devices. People have mistakenly assumed the emphasis is USB rather than audio, when it should be the other way around.

I assume the presence of other audio devices is what confuses FUSE and the driver installation and thus prevents FUSE connecting to the amp.

Hi scott-uk,

This is an interesting point. I will chat with a couple of folks here regarding this. Fender FUSE is looking for one of its supported devices that it would know. It sees the amps as plug and play (HID) devices. In the case of DAWs, you have s specific driver for a specific device, etc. in most cases. So there are some differences.

At any rate, I will check into this here and add any relevant details. Thanks.

Yeah, scott-uk, you hit the nail on the head! :)

I hope my afternoon of sweat and tears will be useful for others in the future now that we know why FUSE is so picky about audio devices and computer connections. :?

But, curiously, that was only during update, after I did it I used FUSE with my firewire soundcard connected without problem. :?:

Hi powerbluesC9,

I'm sorry to hear that you are having troubles getting your Fender Mustang Floor updated to version 1.4 firmware. I would suggest that you grab and install our current (well tested) public beta build of Fender FUSE software here: http://wpc.077d.edgecastcdn.net/00077D/ ... 6.1.35.dmg. Once you download and install that, try the firmware update. It should work correctly with this build. Please contact us directly via email or phone if you are still seeing this issue after the update of Fender FUSE. Thanks.
