Hello

I bought a Fender Mustang this week but I'm having some trouble learning how to handle it.

I already installed Fuse and all the other software and I'm ok with that. My main problem is on the amp itself.

Let's say I want to create a Preset on the amp itself (not on Fuse). How can I do it? Let's say I want a '57 Deluxe Amp with some Gain and a little delay. How do I choose the amp? Do I have to save that preset on a position that matches the amp on the LEDs (#)?

Thanks!

Nope, you can start with any preset and then push the amp button. The move the scroll wheel to the amp of your choice. Do the same with the Delay. Pick and adjust the type of delay you want. When you get it where you want it... Push the save button...

All done bro! The Mustangs sound freakin' great!

Which Mustang model do you have? Your reference to LEDs suggests it's a Mustang 1 or 2. Whereas yes, on any Mustang amp you can save any preset, with any combination of amp/effects, to any position, doing so directly on the amp with a Mustang 1/2 is harder (than on the M 3/4/5). You may find FUSE the easiest way to continue.

Yes, my Amp is a Fender Mustang I. I find Fuse very easy to use, but I want an alternative for occasions where the laptop isn't near by.

So let's say I save a Preset of a '57 Deluxe Amp (ie) on the last position (Metal 2000). Now if I want to create a Preset with the Metal 2000 as the Amp, how should I select it? If I turn the Presets scroll to the Metal 2000 Amp, the amp selected will be from the previous preset I saved.

you can't do that without FUSE. You can only change modulation (chorus, trem, etc) and delay/reverb and MOD and DLY/REV level (EXIT+MOD or DLY/REV knob) of given preset.
well, that and gain, volume, treble, middle (EXIT+treble button) and bass levels.

Read my posts in this thread:

http://www.fender.com/community/forums/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=75417

There's some info on the Mustang I and II.

The ONLY way to make presets like that on the Mustang I and II is to use FUSE. I'm sorry to say that, but it's true. But you may be confused a bit. FUSE is nothing more than an INTERFACE for your amp. If you make changes in FUSE, it sends instructions to your amp, nothing more. If you SAVE that to the preset you have selected, then that preset is replaced by what you have set and you can just turn the dial back to that preset to get that sound back.

Understand?

Read that thread I posted and it should tell you A LOT about your amp and FUSE.

Well thanks for the replies. That really sucks. The Fender Mustang is an amp full of potentialities but the engineers who programmed it could have done better.

It's kinda nonsense not being able to choose the Amp simulation on the amp panel, since we can only store 8 (I think) Fuse presets into the amp (the yellow lights).

EDIT: Forgot to mention this. FFXIhealer I've read a little bit of your thread and it is clearing me up. Tonight I'm gonna read it with more attention.

If I read your post right, you may be misunderstanding something. Using Fuse you can create and save 24 presets on the amp -- one on each of the 8 positions in all 3 colors. On the amp you can only modify and save 16 (red and green), since only in Fuse can you save over the amber presets, but in Fuse you can save over all 24 presets on the amp. :)

Ovangol2, you're right, in fact I wasn't seeing that clearly. Thanks! But I'm still kinda disappointed, because this Amp is really computer-dependant. But the fact that the Amp can save 24 Fuse Presets really helps.

That's why Fender came up with the Mustang III, IV, and V. The LCD and Universal Control Wheel were put in because of just those concerns. The M1 and M2 came out first.

I do not think thats true, fender would have not put the LCD Display and Universal Control Wheel on the mustang I or II because these amps would cost much more money at least 50.00 higher, maybe even 100.00 more,it has nothing to do with the M1 and M2 coming out first in my opinion.

I think you will be pleasantly surprised once you get used to it. While you can't change amps, cabinets or stomps on the amp (without changing presets, that is), you really can change a lot of the settings for each preset right on the amp. I think that once you have it set up with the amps and basic presets you want as starting points, you will find you have good ability to tweak it right on the amp.

At first I used Fuse a lot, but lately I just adjust on the amp and play.

I find it maddening that you create a new sound and try to save it and the amp only gives you the option of red or green bank - the number /position is locked

I can't believe they haven't fixed this with a firmware update - let us save it to any preset position.
The actal amp models I use are my own choice - there's no point trying to force us into a logic that only made sense to the original designer.
