First post, so introductions!

I'm a 38 year old software developer, and bedroom guitar player. I had all but quit playing guitar up until this year because my left hand would go numb when I played. Come to find out, I had destroyed a disc in my neck due to spending the last 20 years or so staring at a computer monitor with my left hand under my chin. When you write code, you spend as much time (or more!) staring at code, and I did it supporting my head with my left hand. That 'lean' as a repetitive posture destroyed a disc in my neck and caused pain if I used my left arm too much.

About 8 months ago I woke up from surgery, and could feel things with my left hand again. Got home, recovered, and picked up the only musical instrument I had kept.. My good old Washburn run of the mill accoustic that I bought when I graduated bootcamp. Ahh! I could play for hours again and still have feeling in my left hand!

So off I went, the first guitar I bought was an Epi Em2 Prophecy with a Crate amp. I played that little amp to death. Don't let Crate fool you, that clean sound is good, but the overdrive channel and reverb was horrible. I later picked up an SG, and realized no matter the guitar, the clean was pretty much the same sound. Worse, the EM2 has active pickups, and the Crate overdrive would bottom out the speaker, and I'd get a horrible sound when the circuit bottomed out. Like a drummer kicking a 5 gallon bucket for bass.

So I checked around, and got stuck between a pedal/amp modeler or the mustang.

Long story short, went with a III cause I can put 6 switches on the floor, and as a software developer the FUSE really intrigues me. I am AMAZED with 2 guitars all of the different sounds this beast puts out.

Really pleased with the amp to date.

Wow man,, I'm in IT too, (since 1977) and it occurs to me that, yes, I spend WAY too much time doing what you have just described.. No neck problems, but I do have carpal that I'm able to manage without it effecting my playing.

Anyway, medical war stories aside.... welcome back to playing, and congrats on the Mustang III,,

I picked one up in June, (and I did NOT need another amp, I have three dyno-mite tube amps) but this thing intrigued me so much that I had to give it a go. (Also added the option 4 button foot switch)

While this will never replace the tube amps, it's probably the best modeling combo I've ever used, (And I've gone the gamut with Line 6, and Vox, they all have their strengths)

IMHO the Mustang is really out in front of the pack with the interface with Fuse, the flexibility of the effects settings, and preset access with the foot switches. Plus the tones the amp gets are really stellar.

Some guys have a digital aliasing issue that seems to drive them bonkers, I haven't been plagued with this.. so I count myself pretty fortunate cuz from what I've read, I'd have sent it back,, those kind of "tone" issues, I just can't deal with.

Good luck on continuing your journey! HNAD!

/Kid..
