I recently purchased a Mustang II 40 watt combo. I love the amp, however, it's a little glitchy. I bought it used and the serial number plate on the back of the amp is blank! No serial number? Anyway, I downloaded the Fuse software and immediately did the firmware update after I did a factory reset. After both attempts at fixing the glitches, the reset and firmware didn't do it. My amp will go from a 60's British to a Bassman without me touching the amp knob. Does anyone know if there is a way to make sure the factory reset was successful? And, is it possible to make sure you are running the latest firmware? I followed the directions and according to the owners manual, it was a success. Both did absolutely nothing to my amp and I am wondering if the update didnt take... It is still glitchy and switches models in the middle of playing.

First, big font not very reader-friendly!

This is at least the third time I've seen this reported on this forum. The reason seems usually to be that the vibrations from playing the amp loudly are causing the preset selection wheel to jump by a notch to the next preset. But I haven't seen any report of how to stop that happening.

As for which firmware you're using, somewhere in FUSE it should tell you that. I'm sure I've seen it but without FUSE in front of me I don't recall exactly which menu option or whereabouts on the screen it is.

It's under MAIN MENU > HELP > About Fender FUSE...

Check the version on the top-right of the window that pops up. My Mustang II reports it as 1.10 - (Jun 11 2012)

To the first guy, sorry for the large fonts. You must be the first person in the world to think large font is difficult to read. Usually, the other way around...

To the second guy, I am running the latest firmware and I think this amp is just a piece of garbage. The volume has nothing to do with the amp switching, because it does it when you're not playing. If I turn the volume passed 7 the amp totally locks up. Thank God I have a nice, reliable Vox AC30 Class A, all-tube amp. It hasn't failed me in 25 years. I'm throwing this one out. I can't sell it, gig or even practice with it. It goes from clean and loud, to dirty and quiet and everything in between. It's a nice concept, but the hardware on this one is shot.

Did you get that amp from a licensed Fender dealer? If so, find your receipt and take it back for a new one. Your sounds like it has problems. The thing comes with a 5-year warranty. I've had my Mustang II for over a year and not had a single problem with it.

I have to agree with this, sounds like a bum unit. Hopefully you purchased from someplace you can return/exchange it (my first choice), or at least negotiate some sort of warranty repair, and not from a private seller aware of the problem and trying to dump it on someone else.

PITA

I paid 25 bucks for it used. Its ok as long as I use a amber factory setting. As far as the custom presets, its useless. The strange thing is the serial number is blank. I bought it used off Craigslist. The guy said it was "glitchy." He also said it just needed a firmware update. The first thing I did was a factory reset. Then the firmware.

price originally paid was 60 bucks. Until about 4 hours ago. He gave me some money back after a phone call.
