I have yesterday bought a Mustang I Amplifier. I want to use it with my fender stratocaster and my Boss ME-70 Effect processor. How should I set my amp that my guitar will be clean, with NO effects at all, just the Gain, Treble, and Bass Knobs to work and tweak it from there . Because now it sounds like all the time the guitar has an effect on it, it is not CLEAN. Thank you!

And which model of amp do you recommend me to use so I can put effects from Boss ME-70? Thank you!

That's because all of the presets on that amp (by default) have some kind of effect added. You can turn the MOD and DLY/REV knobs all the way "off" (full counter-clockwise) to turn those off, but it won't get rid of overdrive/fuzz/etc. stomp boxes on the presets. The only way to remove THOSE as well is to hook your computer up to FUSE with a USB cable and edit your presets directly. In fact, I highly recommend doing that, as you get to see what all kinds of effects are already built into your amp. Most people don't need to use an effects station like the BOSS ME-70 once they get FUSE working right.

But since you want to use it, you want a relatively clean amp model. Here they are (as long as the "Gain" is set fairly low:

1957 Fender Deluxe
1959 Fender Bassman (check your BLEND knob in FUSE)
1965 Fender Princeton Reverb
1965 Fender Deluxe Reverb
1965 Fender Twin Reverb
VOX AC30 [British '60s]

I would go with one of those amp models, remove all effects and make it clean, then run from there.

Hi andreilica,

It looks like you have gotten some good assistance from FFXIhealer. Thanks FFXIhealer for chiming in. We generally suggest the '65 Twin Reverb as a good starting place, with both effects knobs turned to zero, and the Gain knob at zero. Then you can build from there. Keep in mind that you can use our Fender FUSE software to access the extended range of in-depth editing features as well. Please let us know if we can assist further.

Thank you for the fast response! :) So I understand that there will always be effects. I managed to get a good clean sound with 57' Deluxe that sound ok with the ME-70. If I will need any further help, I will post here. Thanks again!

No. By default there are effects. But you can turn them all off, as per others' replies above. Some you can turn off directly on the amp. For others, you need to use FUSE (software running on your PC, connected to the amp via USB) to turn them off.

NB You can turn off all the effects, including cab simulation, but you can't turn off the amp modelling. But I assume you want that, otherwise you wouldn't have bought a Mustang. As others have said, there are several 'clean' amp models to suit your purpose.

I agree with FFXIhealer - don't just dismiss all the effects on the amp. Give them a try. You may well find the amp does everything you need on its own, without the extra multi-fx pedal. (Although I concede the separate pedal gives you much easier on-device control and live footswitching).

Welcome to the team!

I would agree with most of the previous replies...with one exception.

With all due respect to our fabulous Fender TSL folk, I'd steer you away from the Twin...it is certainly clean, but somewhat weak at the same time. I'd recommend using the '65 Deluxe Reverb as a starting point, you may find the basic tone more satisfying.

Cheers.

Hi HeyJoe42,

No worries. If the '65 Deluxe Reverb works well, that's great. Please let us know if we can assist further.
