Hi Bidanb,

I will be happy to assist. Here is a list of steps we recommend for the "No amp connected" issue you are seeing. Please let us know if any of these steps helped you.

1. Switch between all USB ports to see if your computer will recognize the device.
2. Try a different USB cable. (if this is still unsuccessful, move to step 3.)
3. Uninstall Fender FUSE and try to install our most recent Fender FUSE beta release with the link below.

Let us know how it goes. Thanks.

Sorry for your problem. I have a Mustang II and a floor. Really like the Mustang II, still getting used to the Mustang Floor.

For what its worth, when I got my mustang floor and plugged in to Fuse, I tried to update, the update failed and then showed amp not connected no matter what I did. Then I installed Fuse on a different computer, and plugged the floor in to that computer using the USB. The software asked if I wanted to update the amp software, I said OK, it updated the software on the amp and no problems since with with either computer -- they both recognize the amp fine.

Good luck.

(Just occurred to me that your problem is no doubt different from mine, since my mustang floor would not even turn on when I was having the problem. Hope that at least your amp is still working!)

Same thing happened to me. Sadly I just think that the amp only works with certain computers. It didn't work with my last computer and it doesn't work with my new computer. It did work with a borrowed computer but that was it.

This shouldn't be the case, at least in terms of the software. It's possible that an old computer has faulty USB ports or poor (hardware/firmware) USB implementation. But other than that, USB should be the same everywhere.

FUSE says it needs at least XP SP3, do you have that?

Also, are you using an extra-long USB lead, or an extension lead, etc? If so, try it with a shorter lead and without any USB extension leads. The signal loss with an extension lead can sometimes cause problems (with USB generally, dunno about the Mustang specifically).

Hi everyone,

Thanks for your feedback and thanks scott-uk for chiming in with additional assistance. The most common issue with FUSE not recognizing the amp on any Windows system has to do with the drivers not properly installing or becoming corrupted.

Be sure to unplug all of your USB devices except for the amp. Go to device manager with the amp turned on and connected, and under Universal Serial Bus Controllers, you should see a USB Composite device. If you see more than one, you'll have to determine which one the amp is. Right click and uninstall that USB Composite device. Once it's uninstalled, disconnect your amp and then reconnect it. The device should be recognized in some way.
Please let us know how it goes and if we can assist further. Thanks.

I had similar problem.
Solution is very simple - run program as administrator:)

That may be a short-term workaround, but I wouldn't consider it a solution. It should never be necessary to run an ordinary application as administrator, and to do so is a potential security disaster* so should be avoided.

FUSE certainly doesn't need to run as administrator for normal operation (at least in my experience), so it seems most likely something is wrong with its installation. Obviously the installation needs admin permissions to install drivers etc, but Windows (certainly Vista and 7) should take care of that (assuming "User Account Control" (UAC) is turned on).

On XP you should explicitly login as administrator to do the FUSE installation, then obviously logout afterwards and go back to using your everyday non-administrator account to run FUSE. You could also do the same on Vista / Win 7 if UAC isn't doing its thing to elevate the installation program's permissions.

*I mean in the general case, I'm not suggesting anything about FUSE specifically.

Further info that may help people... I just did a new install of FUSE on another computer, and watched closely what happens at every step.

The basic FUSE/Silverlight install proceeds without error. I then launch FUSE and it says connect the amp. So I turn the amp on and plug in the USB lead.

At this point, a lot of stuff starts happening in the background to install the USB device drivers. There appear to be three drivers that are installed. AFter the first is complete, it looks like (in Device Manager, etc) that the Mustang amp is there, visible and correctly connected. But FUSE can't see it yet.

The second and third driver installations are still in progress. Surprisingly, the installation goes off to the network to check (using Windows Update) whether newer drivers are available. This process can take several minutes. It's not until this has completed that the second and third driver installations complete, and FUSE can then see the amp. (For complete accuracy, FUSE appears to initially connect to the amp after the second installation has completed, while the third is still in progress).

The above seems to match people's observed behaviour: the Amp appears in Device Manager, but FUSE can't connect to it. So it seems plausible to suggest the fault is that the second and third device driver installations haven't finished. There could be several reasons for this:
- USB cable unplugged prematurely (or amp turned off)
- Computer turned off prematurely
- No network connection, or network can't connect to Windows Update, or connection is interrupted before completion
- And so on

I'm not saying this is definitely anyone's problem, or that fixing any of the above will definitely solve it, but these seem valid things to check.

I have the exact same problem...but on my Mac running Lion. No matter what I do the Mustang Floor will not be recognized. I've tried to uninstall/reinstall a number of times, tried different USB cable, different USB port. Very frustrating!

Hi rapaul76,

It may be beneficial for you to try our current public beta build of Fender FUSE. We have updated and improved connectivity for both the Mac and Win versions. Please find that here: http://wpc.077d.edgecastcdn.net/00077D/ ... 6.1.35.dmg. And let us know if this corrects the connectivity issue you are seeing. Thanks.

Hi all,

What other application asks you to disconnect all USB devices before installing ?
This all sounds like the problems seen between the XP Sp3 and the Vista/W7
world, as experienced in the business computing world in the last 2 years or so.
If Fender Fuse, as seems likely and inevitable, has gone with the Vista/W7
progression, then you're going to need W7 on your PC, or a new W7 PC !
Fuse v.2.6.0.25 does not, in my experience, have a problem in XP !
