That would work if Dropbox didn't make you pay for public sharing. I can only share with specific e-mail addresses, so that's a no-go.

I don't pay for dropbox and AFAIK sharing still works for me. Maybe I'm grandfather'd in?

Yeah, this is why I don't come here anymore. I came because I have a Mustang II v.1 and a Mustang V v.1 with the V412 cab. Nobody really posts in the forums about these amps or about FUSE anymore. *sigh* And the M5 is still my go-to amp to this day. Shame.

Sadly even with whatever hype they tried to generate, the GT section of the forum is pretty dead too. I remember when the v1 amps were current, there was an exciting atmosphere to this forum. People sharing patches and little tricks they learned. There is some chatter in the new forum but not what I would expect. Fender staff have declared the GT line a commercial success already, but I would be interested to see the sales chart they using.

When I was looking to fend off boredom with another modeling amp, a few weeks ago, I considered but I did not buy a GT. Instead, I bought a Marshall Code 50. I think it's a great amp.

I've read about the Marshall Code series. I even tried to play on one at a Guitar Center and my reaction was (this isn't nearly as user-friendly as the Fender Mustang amps are...). I also think the high-gain sounded a little TOO -artificial, but that's probably because I didn't work hard enough to clear out all of the stupid "effects" from the chain so I can hear the bare amp tones.

(Not to hijack the Mustang thread for a Marhsall product, but a few things to mention)

you're right, there's a big difference for sure in the interface. Once you get the knack, the Code's are pretty easy to get around and edit with the LCD.

Also notably improved in the Code is there is nothing that needs a PC/or BT connected device for deep edits. It's all accessible on the LCD. As you'll recall with the mustang amps, there were a few things you had to get into FUSE to edit with III, IV and V series.

Regarding the presets, they all need to be edited and dialed in, just like it was with the mustang. Out of the box, presets are heavy with the fx, stomp box settings, noise gate, lousy EQing... etc..

But in retrospect, not all that different than the mustangs were. Most of the presets were not 100% usable. But half the fun is the journey to find 4 or 5 great sounds to pull the best out of these amps. (I can't ever imagine needing more than 6/7 "ready to go" presets.)

Remember how the volume leveling on the Mustangs were? Lots of variance from preset to preset. The Code 50, the volumes seem more consistent from preset to preset.

And of course, coming as no surprise, where the mustang's shine with the Tweed/Blackface and other classic fender sounds, and the Marshall Code shines with the classic Marshall models. It's actually nice to have one of each!

I'm still waiting for the Code's 4 button foot controller which appear to be perpetually "out of stock" at the main online music vendors. Last I saw was they were due in sometime around April 28th

One thing else to mention is the Marshall Gateway App, which uses Bluetooth connection - via android or iOS to the amp. It's pretty cool. Fuse was very easy too, and I liked the easy of a USB cable to a Windows client. The Marshall has no equivalent yet other than some open source apps that are "meh" in regard to stability.

The Gateway App paired to an Android device works good but can be a bit finicky when connecting. Usually, it comes right on line but not always. I'd actually prefer something like FUSE/USB to PC. That was more reliable IMO.

all things considered they are fairly comparable (Code/Mustang) At least the MIII v1 and the CODE 50.

One does not out reach the other in regard to functionality, ease of use, or over all quality of the sounds. It's fun having both the Mustang and the Code at arms reach.

If no one hijacked a thread, no posts would be made anymore. This entire forum seems deader than the Atacama Desert.

But I enjoyed reading your review about the Code, because all the videos I've seen about it (save one) were all using the stock presets and they honestly sound like $@!&.

yes indeed this is a dead forum these days, other than a few signs of life now and then.

All presets that I've played around with have to be edited. Some of the presets are just hopeless. I just ignore those and move on to others that don't sound quite so ridiculous.

The Bluesbreaker, Jubilee and JTM models are very usable.

This subforum is dead because Fender killed it intentionally (IMO). They probably expected to see more of us posting in the GT forums instead of moving on to other products. Sorry to say, as much as I enjoyed the Mustang modeling platform, it is just too short-lived for me to keep investing in the latest version each time they kill off the previous series. Hey Fender Marketing dept: that's called "shooting yourself in the foot".

I could be all wrong and just plain ignorant on the matter but from the stuff I've read on the GT forum pages and in general, the Mustang GT was nearly not as a much a success as the Mustang v1 / v2.

The reviews and threads I read definitely kept me wary of going for one when I was ready to make the next modeling amp purchase. In fact, I don't think I've read more than a hand full of + reviews.

And the way Fender just more or less abandoned all the v1 buyers when the v2 was released did leave a long lasting bad taste in many peoples mouths. ("Want the new features, pony up for another amp") Since I use these as practice jam amps, I wasn't about to drop another $250 to get the new bells and whistles in the MIII v2 where the v1 was still doing it's job.

Then there was the MIII v1 "FIZZZZZZ" which my v1 amp never did... and which Fender never fessed up to as something THEY could have patched.

Clearly a take the money and run strategy on their part. Many sniffed it out for just that.

Lots of reasons to stay clear of the GT amps....

I believe when they finally admitted there was a problem, they blamed it on hardware - a fault power supply. Thus not something that could be patched. Either way, it was "sorry Charlie, maybe you'll have better luck with the new model. That'll be another $250, kid."
