Hi, I'm new to this forum, but not new to Fender products, as I own two Strats, a Tele, and a Blues Jr. and just last week I had a chance to buy a second hand Mustang II at a very reasonavble price, so I jumped on the occasion. It worked just fine when I tried it out, but once I got home, the problems started. Here's my problem, after a few minutes of playing, when I try to change the presets it simply freezes and then it dies out, no sound, nothing, completely dead.
After a few minutes, I'm able to turn it on again, but the same problem reoccur over and over. I did install Fender Fuse on my Computer hoping it could help, but the software says that no amp is connected.
Is this something common ? can it be fixed ??
Thank you for your help, by the way, when it works, I love the sound of this little amp.

I haven't seen this problem reported before*. Sounds like you have a faulty amp. It's almost certainly hardware rather than firmware (so FUSE etc won't help), and so therefore probably can't be economically fixed.

Depending where you bought it, can you take it back for a refund / exchange? Cynically, perhaps the previous owner was selling it precisely because it had become faulty...

*At least not with a Mustang amp. I did have a radio once that behaved similarly. There was a faulty component that failed as it heated up during use, but was fine when the radio was first turned on.

Fender Mustang amps have a 5 year warranty in the US, so I'd have it sent in for service. Fender will most likely just send you a brand new unit, though. So if you can, back up all of your preset data with FUSE first.

That definitely sounds like a faulty component.

Thank you for your swift replies, you are both right, the amp is probably defective. I'm in Canada and I think the 5 year warranty also applies here, I will get in touch with one of the mods to find out where and when it was originally purchased and see if it still is under warranty.

I solved my problem the easy way, I simply took the amp back to my seller for a refund ...and I found another one in the classified, hopefully this one will not be defective. I'll let you know as soon as I get it !

Hi fenderski,

I'm glad that you got the situation sorted out with the original amp. Please let us know if we can assist with anything after you get the 'new' amp.

I got my «new» amp over the weekend and it works just fine, I am now in the process of figuring out how to use Fuse to edit some of the pre sets on the amp, so I may have other questions later in a different thread. Thanks anyways.

Definitely check out my thread I posted here:

http://www.fender.com/community/forums/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=75417

It contains a lot of good information about your amp. I'll eventually be adding some Mustang I/II -specific information to that thread as well so keep an eye on it.
