Can this be done? Using Fuse Beta version.35, Updated latest firmware for both devices. Made a backup of Mustang 3. Tried to restore to Mustang Floor. Floor does not see the Mustang 3's backup, so I can't download it. Help. I need to do this for tonight's gig.

If you can't transfer the complete backup, can you upload/download individual presets between the M3 and M Floor?

That is, copy a preset from the amp to the FUSE library. Then swap to the Floor and save the preset in FUSE back to the device.

Dunno if it will work, just a suggestion.

Hi pathtaker,

Can you zip a copy of your Fender Mustang III back up and email it to us? Then we can take a look at it and test it here. Thanks very much.

Make sure Memory Lock is OFF.
I am checking this now.
I am trying to Restore from a Backup of edited presets on a MFloor...
Doesn't work. Restore window is empty.
I can only Open presets (from Backup) and Save individually.
The Save function must be performed on the device, it does not work from FUSE. This is also my experience with the Mustang III.
Unless I'm doing something wrong. It's been known to occur LOL.
Maybe time to re-do the FUSE tutorial.

Thanks for your help everyone. Just to clarify, I am trying to back up one device's presets and restore them to the other. Seems like this should be able to be done. Not working though.

Yup, I can't even do it with the same device (Mustang Floor).
Back to work on this...

Hi pathtaker,

Thanks for checking in on this. A direct back up from a Fender Mustang III to a Fender Mustang Floor (or in other words one device type to another) is not possible with the Backup/Restore function in Fender FUSE.

You can however, copy the Presets from your Mustang III backup folder to your Fender FUSE Presets folder (Documents\Fender\FUSE\Presets). Then you can use the Media Library in Fender FUSE to save the Presets that you want to use to your Mustang Floor. I have passed along your input here as well to the right folks for consideration. If I can assist further, please feel free to contact me directly.

Thanks for your assistance. I must say that I am disappointed though. I'm sure that this functionality would be appreciated by those of us that have invested in both devices. It seems as though this shouldn't be that big a deal but I admittedly don't know the if in fact technically it is or not. Hopefully, Fender will add this functionality. I'm still loving the products and of course the support and this forum. Thanks again.

In case you're interested here's another way to do it.

The Fender Fuse software does not see/display my Mustang amp preset backups when the Mustang floor is connected to your PC.
This is because the structure of Floor preset files differ from Mustang amp presets in two places (the product ID section, and expression pedal section).
Presets are text files and easily edited with Notepad or any text editor.

Essentially you copy the two sections from a Floor preset file and paste them into each Mustang amp file you want to transfer to your Floor.

INSTRUCTIONS (7 Steps)

1. Back up the Floor factory presets and your Mustang amp presets using the FUSE Backup utility.
IMPORTANT ***(Write down what time it is when you start each backup...you'll need this later)*** IMPORTANT

2. Locate the backup files on your PC.
They are usually at C:\Documents and Setting\username\My Documents\Fender\FUSE\Backups
The backups you made will be in a folder named with today's date and time.
(i.e. folder name would be 2012_12_16_07_28_21 if today was December 16 2012 at 7:28am & 21 seconds)

3. Within the "Backups" folder create a new folder called 2012_12_12_12_12_12

4. Copy the preset files and subfolders from your Mustang V backup folder to the 2012_12_12_12_12_12 folder.
(There are two files; MU_BackupName.fuse, SystemSettings.fuse, Two subfolders; "FUSE" and "Presets")
Use the time you backed-up the amp presets to identify which folder they are in (told ya...wrote it down, right?).

5. Go to the Floor backup subfolder named "Presets", open any one of its preset files (i.e. 00_Liquid Solo.fuse) with your text editor.
Leave this file opened.

6. Now the edits.
Go to the 2012_12_12_12_12_12 folder.

a. Open the file "MU_BackupName.fuse", change the text to whatever name you want FUSE to show in its backup/restore utility.
Save the file.

b. Go to the subfolder "Presets" in the 2012_12_12_12_12_12 folder you created.
Open and perform the following to edits on the first file, and any other preset you want to use on your floor:

b1. Copy the device name string (example below) from the opened Mustang Floor preset file and paste it over the Mustang V device name string.

<Preset amplifier="Mustang Floor" ProductId="7">

b2. Copy the bottom portion (extended pedal, and Loop params) of Mustang Floor preset file and pasted it over (replace) that portion of the Mustang V preset. An example of this Floor section is shown below.

<FirstExpressionPedal VolumeModeBehavior="1" ExpressionModeBehavior="4" HeelSetting="16448" ToeSetting="65535" PedalMode="0"
BypassEffectWhenVolumeMode="1" VolumeSwitchRevert="0" DefaultPedalState="1" PedalOverrideState="1" ParameterIndex="0" />
<SecondExpressionPedal ExpressionModeBehavior="4" HeelSetting="0" ToeSetting="65535" PedalMode="0" BypassEffectWhenVolumeMode="1"
PedalIndex="1" VolumeSwitchRevert="0" DefaultPedalState="1" ParameterIndex="0" />
<UsbGain>0</UsbGain>
<FxLoopBypass>false</FxLoopBypass>
</Preset>

b3. Save the edited file.

7. Use the FUSE restore utility to transfer these presets to your Floor.

Note:
You must edit the first file in the folder or FUSE will not recognize the folder as a Floor folder. All presets will show on your floor, but only the edited ones will work.

Gee, I'll have to try this, as soon as I get my software engineering degree.
