I have installed the amplitube app that come free with my Mustang 3 amp. The authorization manager has given me my auth code and digital ID or whatever, but when i tried to run the program, the app would not run.

I finally ran the app as administrator and it started with a screen asking for the serial number. I enter the serial number in my fuse profile (and also emailed to me by the amplitube site) and it doesn't work.

I click cancel and the app runs but tells me i have 10 days left. Does anyone know what the problem could be?

Also, now that I set it to use the ASIO drivers, when i start it its nothing but squealing feedback. I read that its because by default it uses mic input, but everytime i try to change the settings the program just freezes for infinity unless I kill it.

Is it just me or is this software/company just $@!&?

Simply take it back.
Threaten to return the amp if the store cannot make it right in front of you.
This works if you amp is brand new.

Otherwise, use Fender customer services hot-line.

PLMK your results. Thanks. Toppscore :)

Well my Mustang amp didn't come with the software CD for Ableton and Amplitude. It just told me to log into the fuse website to download my fuse software and my free third party apps. I was given the serial for amplitude from my fuse account. The weird thing is in the authorization manager the serial works fine and gives me the digital ID and the authorization code. This also all shows up fine on the amplitude web site as being registired to me... it just wont work in the actual app once it runs.

The amp and the fuse software work fine. (Although I am a little annoyed that in the fuse program I cannot add two different modulation effects [like a chorus and a flanger]. I have had the amp for a few weeks now, although the actual use is much less as I am relearning guitar after many many years of going without, so I play without the amp quite a bit.

I guess I will try the hotline. I'll let you know what I find out.

Thanks. You'll make it.
I like downloads better, as you get the current versions.
Looking forward to hearing your success story :)

I figured out another work around to get it working. I absolutely HATE dealing with customer service. 9 times out of 10 you wind up on the phone with someone who has NO idea what they are doing, because companies would rather pay people with absolutely no experience and no knowledge in the field in which they are working minimum wage rather than pay someone who knows something a decent wage.

I work in the computer field and have had to deal with this more times than I care to think about. It is incredibly annoying to have someone walk you through a script that you know will not solve your problem rather than talk to a person that actually knows something more than the person calling in for help.

I chose to find a key generator for the product. I realize that this will be frowned upon by many peopled, and some may say it is illegal. But, according to software licensing (you pay for the license, not the software) you pay for the right to have the program installed on one machine at one time. The actual product key (or serial) you use is irrelevant, which is why you can call microsoft and get a new product key as long as you have your CD's part number for the operating system.

My software license was included with the purchase of the product provided to me by fender, and since my license includes one copy of the third party software, I have done no wrong. I have just found a way to get what I paid for in an easier way than spend who knows how long with some tech support person in india (or whever they might actually be.

I do no recommend, or condone stealing software, but at the same time I also do not accept suffering the consequences of two companies that cannot coordinate properly to prevent issues like this arising for their customers.

So, you got it working by using a "key"?
What is the difference than the key from the software CD?

I suspect the software version on the CD provided by Fender is a special version, tied to the specific keys that the Fender/Fuse website generates.

I doubt if the keys generated by that website would work with other versions of the software, such as a generic version downloaded from the Ableton/Amplitube etc websites.

Also, a freely-downloadable version is also probably different from a commercially-purchaseable version and may be modified not to work with some keys, in an attempt to stop software piracy. So the downloaded version probably isn't what you want anyway.

In short, you should have had a CD with your amp and used the software on that. If your amp was brand new (including a shop demo item) and didn't come with a CD, something is suspect and if it were me I would have taken it back. Or maybe Fender can send you the missing CD with the correct software versions if you explain the situation to them and have proof of purchase, etc.

Who or what is "it" in the above? Yes it's correct to download the latest version of Fuse from the Fender website, but not I think the third-party apps. The only valid versions of those (in terms of the 'free' keys for use with Mustang amps) are the ones on the Fender CD.

Although your rationale that you haven't committed a crime (software piracy) is perfectly valid, in the letter of the law you probably have: you've obtained a commercial key for the commercial version of the apps, which is different to the Fender key for the Fender version of the apps to which you're entitled. If I were you, I would pursue getting the correct CD and start again from there.

I know this has been awhile, but since I "kinda" solved my problem on my own, I never checked back. I don't remember now what it was one, but there was something in the amp box that told me where to download the Amplitube Software. There was no CD at all and it was an unopened box (both the amp box, and the plain brown box it was shipped to Guitar Center in).
Maybe that's a newer thing... a lot of companies are doing that now. It's more expensive to ship CDs in a day and age when most people have high speed internet. For example buying a copy of MS Office nowadays you buy a card with a product key on it and download office from their site.
I didn't actually use the software for very long anyway. It had some amazing sounding amps in it, but my laptop just couldn't handle it. There was a lot of lag between strumming and output, and moving the little slider enough to correct it caused a lot of glitches. (which it does warn you about).
I read some forums that mentioned using a computer with pretty much nothing else installed on it and disabling every start up program and service you can in windows, but I use the laptop for work, and I don't have any room to set up another computer just to use for this.
If I upgrade to a better computer that can handle the software I'll probably dig back into this and get the serial key issue worked out.
I know what you're saying about "letter of the law", but I didn't feel I should have to jump through a bunch of hoops just to try out the program that was supposed to be free anyway.

No sir, as stated in my last post (I know... EXTREMELY late reply here), The software isn't that usable on my current laptop, and has been uninstalled. If I get something newer, or can set up a dedicated computer that I can strip down the software on, I will get back with you if I run into the same issues.

I don't know if I could live without the Fuse software though... That's the best thing since sliced bread (when it's not freezing up on me after being left open for a few days). My amp sits on the other side of my coffee table, and I play comfortably sitting on my couch, where changing amp settings is just a click away on the laptop sitting right in front of me.
