I am thinking of the dedicated amp channel switchs, reverb/vibrato type switch,
four-button pedal/switches or those big foot-controllers Fender
offered with Cyber Twins and similar amps

As discussed copiously in several other topics recently, eg:
viewtopic.php?f=27&t=72065

the only footswitches that work with the Mustangs are the ones made specifically for it, viz:
Mustang 3/4/5 MS-2 Two-Button Footswitch: 0080997000
Mustang 3/4/5 MS-4 Four-Button Footswitch: 0080996000
Mustang 1/2 One-Button Footswitch: 0994049000
Mustang EXP-1 Expression Pedal: 2301050000

This is because (for the Mustang 3/4/5 at least) they are not simple switches at all, but controllers that interact with the specific features/interface of the Mustang amps. I believe (but don't have one so can't confirm) the Mustang 1/2 footswitch is just a simple switch.

In particular, the G-DEC amp's "ULT-4" 4-button footswitch, which looks similar to the Mustang MS-4 footswitch, isn't suitable for the Mustang amps. From other posts, it looks like it may partially work in some situations, but certainly not fully or reliably.

Also, contrary to what some people seem to have been told in shops, you can't use the Mustang Floor as a foot controller for a Mustang amp. The Mustang Floor is a totally separate, self-contained device.

People have asked Fender, in other topics, for a foot controller for the Mustangs similar to that for the Cyber Twin, etc. Fender have responded that they've taken the request on board, but can't comment on whether or when they'll ever produce such an item.

Great response. I have two Paul Rivera era amps (Concert II & Twin Reverb II)
and will only get the two-button footswitches designed and guaranteed for
the Paul Rivera era amps. Plus, they are 2x or 4x the cost of other footswitches.
Toppscore :)

Darmil. Which "pedal friendly" amps are you using with your Boss DS1?

I use the DS1 with my mustang 2 on Twin Reverb and Bassman, sounds the best on twin reverb, and my champion 30 on Reverb and Chorus. Both have great sound. Can't complain for a $37 stompbox.

I think the Boss DS-1 sounds pretty good with the Fender Floor that I use as a DI for recording. I also use a EH Soul Preacher and a Hardwire CM-2 with good results as well using the Fender Twin amp in the Mustang Floor.
I have a video using that setup here:http://youtu.be/BZeYdfx1neU

I recently purchased a Zoom G5 to setup to use with my tube amps and live performances. It is a lot better than the Fender Floor for me because it allows me to have nine different effects in the chain in any order, a 60 second looper and an acoustic simulator. I have taken all of my modulation effects pedals and just have the Zoom G5 in my effects loop for all of the modulations, delays, octaver's, reverbs, harmonizers, phasers, wah's and a ton more of stuff. The overdrives are actually pretty usable as well, but I setup a smaller pedal board for my over drives into my amps. I am now using a chain like this.
Guitar->EH Soul Preacher->Hardwire CM2->Fulltone Fulldrive 2->Big Muff with Tone/Wicker->MXR 10 Band EQ->BOSS FV-500L Volume Pedal->DOD A/B Switch->Blues Deluxe or Egnater Tweaker 15.

The one thing that sucks about the Zoom G5 is the scroll to see all of the effects in the chain, but there is a mod that I will probably do in the near future to fix that issue. Also I like the tuner in the Mustang Floor a lot better than the one in the Zoom G5. I usually use my Korg Pitchblack off of my volume pedal most of the time, so it's not so much of an issue.

I have two 40 watt monitor speakers as well for the Zoom G5 and the Fender Floor and they do a good job of getting some good tone with the amp and cab sim's. And they really shine with my 750 watt PA with 15" mains when I want to get loud..
