Hello!

I'm thinking of buying a Mustang Floor, but there are some Questions left, which the manual couldnt solve.

Does the Mustang Floor send Program Changes when pressing a Presetbutton? Because i want to control the channels ov my EVH 5150 mini.

And is there a noisegate as effect if I dont want to use the Amp-Modelling? Searching the manual after "noise" and "gate" only leads me to the "Amp CCs".

Thanks alot!

I just checked out the PDF manual and it's relatively vague on midi compared to other manuals. Most companies who make products with midi capability wisely include a Midi Implementation Chart that shows what messages are sent and reveived in a very clear manner, which is sadly missing in the Floor's manual.

From what I am able to gather, the Floor can send out midi CCs but can only receive program changes... Kinda silly in that the Floor is essentially A CONTROLLER. Seems like a ridiculous limitation to me.

Let's hope that Fender just hasn't gotten to that feature yet.

Yeah thats what i got too from the so called "advanced" manual. Its looks more like a first steps guide^^

I found this thread here: viewtopic.php?f=27&t=74486

Im not sure, If im understanding the answer right. But isnt "Fender TSL" saying, Midi Out is automatically sending Program Changes?

And how about the NoiseGate? Is it working, if the Amp-Sim is deactivated?

The Mustang Floor does transmit PC messages when presets are changed, and is definitely capable of receiving PC or CC messages for parameter control. For a full list of the CC's supported check out the MIDI Appendix on pages 10 and 11 of the Floors Advanced manual.

Currently the Noise Gate remains active if it is turned on and the the amp model is bypassed but this is a bug that will be addressed in a future update. If you'd like to use the Noise Gate without an amp model I recommend setting up Studio Preamp(which is flat when the treble, mid, and bass are set to the same value).

Hope that helps and let me know if you have any questions.

Thank you for the clarification, Brian.
However, svartsol and I have found that this is not clearly stated in the manual. It only talks about receiving program changes as far as I can see. Here is the wording in the manual.

Quote:
The Mustang Floor is MIDI (Musical Instrument Digital Interface) compatible. Use the utility menus (see Utility Menus, page 7) to configure MIDI channel settings and select Continuous
Controller numbers (CC#) for outgoing expression pedal events.
Incoming MIDI Program Changes 0-99 are used to select Mustang Floor presets 0-99. Incoming MIDI Continuous Controllers are used to adjust Mustang Floor parameters as listed in the MIDI Appendix starting on page 10.

I have a Mustang Floor (Firmware 1.3) and I have tested the MIDI implementation and can say that MIDI program change messages are sent out; they are also received and recognized.
The expression pedal(s) send controller messages out too but the values are reversed; that is the highest value is a heel position and the lowest at toe position.
