Is there any possibility of the Mustang Floor getting a firmware update/upgrade/etc that would eventually allow the 4 cable method with proper placement of FX in this type of loop? We all know the MF does not allow you to change the position of the FX Loop in this type of situation, but would the 4 cable method used on many other devices ever be possible with the MF?

Just curious! :D

This has been discussed / answered before. The answer is no, the position of the FX loop in the signal chain can't be changed. This is because the position of the FX loop is fixed in hardware, it's not a firmware issue.

The reason it's fixed in hardware is principally cost I presume: the M Floor would need an additional set of A-D and D-A converters in order to put the (analogue) loop at an arbitrary point within the (digital) signal chain. By keeping the loop at the start of the signal chain, they take the analogue input, pass it through the analogue loop, then just do one A-D conversion to get into the DSP section, and a final D-A back to analogue for the output.
