Just bought a Mustang 111 and was told at the store that I can change the presets into an order that I prefer instead of how the factory has set them up. How do I do this? Also I have a footswitch from a G-DEC 3 Thirty is it compatable with the mustang.

You change the QA1, QA2, QA3 presets assignments by pressing the Utility Button/Light.

This is weird,, The GDEC looks like the same foot switch as the 4 button mustang,, why the heck is it twice the cost tho? have you tried this with the Mustang?

The G-DEC and Mustang footswitches are different and apparently not interchangeable. See this topic, particularly my post at the end of page 3, for technical details and part numbers.

Just because they look similar on the outside doesn't mean they are the same inside. Also price (of anything, not just footswitches) has little to do with actual production cost and more to do with supply and demand.

To answer the OP's original question:

You can save any preset to any position. So for example if "74" is your favourite, you can move it to "00" - and you can do this on the amp or in FUSE. On the amp (Mustang 3, 4 or 5), just change some parameter of the preset, then change it back to the original value. The SAVE button lights up. When you hit SAVE, you can choose the preset number to save it as. How to do it in FUSE is discussed in other topics so I won't retype it here, eg see:

viewtopic.php?f=27&t=73929

viewtopic.php?f=27&t=73290

viewtopic.php?f=27&t=73974

The 'gotcha' is that whatever was in the destination position ("00" in the above example) is overwritten and lost. So if you want to keep that, you have to move it somewhere else first. Then if you want to save the "somewhere else" patch, you have to move that before doing any of the previous moves, and so on...

So as long as there's one patch you don't mind losing, you can do it all on the amp with a succession of 'saves' to the desired positions.

If you use FUSE, you can save all your presets in the FUSE 'media library' so you don't lose any of them, then save them back to the amp, one at a time, to whatever preset position you want (and yes, limitations in the ways FUSE lets you do that, eg no drag-n-drop, are already copiously covered in the other topics referenced above).

Hi larry281,

It looks like scott-uk has offered some very good information. Using Fender FUSE will of course make saving the Presets you want to hold on to a fairly easy task. And please let us know if we can assist. Thanks.

Hi
Is it possible to save all the presets from my Mustang 3 into the Fuse library in one go or do I have to save them one at a time the save them back to the amp in my preferred order one at a time?
Thanks
Mick

Hi micklamm,

I will be happy to assist. You can can perform a Backup of your Fender Mustang III's content using the Fender FUSE software. This will copy your amp's entire content to the Backup folder inside your Fender folder. You can then Restore your amp using the Backup at a later time. Unfortunately you can only transfer Presets to your amp one at a time using Fender FUSE. Please let us know if we can assist further.

Hi

I have performed the Backup as you recommended. How do I now add all the presets to the library so I can then transfer them back the Mustang 3 into the preset positions I want them in?

Michael

Hi micklamm,

The easiest way to do this would be to go to your Back Ups folder on your computer and copy/paste the Presets into your Presets folder. This is all within your Documents/Fender/FUSE/Presets and Documents/Fender/FUSE/Presets file locations. Once you have the Presets copied into the Presets folder, you can launch Fender FUSE and start copying the specific Presets you want to the specific locations you would like them in.

Please let us know if we can assist further. Thanks.
