I'm reorganizing my presets and I'm looking at the advanced amp settings too.
I've tried turning off the cab sim with the internal speaker. It sounds different, not necessarily good or bad.

So that leads me to ask, what's the rule of thumb situation to turn off the cabinet simulation?

It's a bit of an odd question coming from a Mustang III owner, since there isn't a speaker out.

I thought of several situations, but I don't know if they are the ideal situation.

Playing though an external cabinet, obviously.
Playing thru headphones?
Playing thru USB?
Using the line-out to record?
Creating presets for an acoustic/electric?
Any others that I missed?

Thanks,
Greg

cab sim simulate the dynamic of the cab i think that the best situation when you turn it of is when:

1) your cab (mustang or external) perform the way you desire it
2) the volume is in the sweet spot for your cab
3) the thing is mic'ed

Here is what fender should add to all mustang amps in addition to the different cabinet models: A parameter control to select what type of speaker or cabinet is hooked up to your mustang, for example the mustang I has a 8" speaker and if i select a 2x12 cabinet model it will not really sound that close to this cabinet model because the modeling software does not know what type of speaker your mustang amp uses,i could select this same 2x12 cabinet model with my mustang V going through my line 6 spider 4x12 and it may sound closer to what a 2x12 should sound like but if someone used a real 2x12 cab with there mustang V instead of the correct 4x12 cab the cabinet model will sound very different.

My point here is that the mustang and all modeling amps in my opinion should have a feature that you can select first what type and size of speaker is in your mustang and you would choose the speaker size in a parameter control setting to match your mustangs internal speaker,i would also like to see a cabinet tuning parameter control for fine tuning the speaker match setting.

If these features were added to the mustang the cabinet models would sound better and much more closer to what the selection of the different cabinet models should sound like.

Aside from acoustic presets, I don't have any of the other cabinet bypass situations today.
I wanted to be sure I was using it correctly.

Thanks for your help.
