Hello Everyone,
I have just bought a Mustang Floor and after a conversation with the shop assistant who convinced me that it could do MIDI out, I also bought a Midi to USB cable.
I would like to use the pedal and soome switches to control Amplitube which is MIDI aware.
Has anyone here been successful in doing this?

Thanks

Hi freddofrog,

If you are looking to control program changes, the Fender Mustang Floor sends those automatically on the selected MIDI channel. If you would like, please send us a more detailed description of what parameters you are looking to control in AmpliTube, and we can offer some more detailed advice for you. Thanks.

Hi,
Thanks for the reply.I still have not had time to try this but I will experiment tomorrow.
As far as I know Amplitube has a MIDI learn or assign function for various controls, preset changes and pedal control etc. So I should be able to assign any midi number to whatever control i want.
It is the practical use of this with the Mustang floor that has me concerned. Can I use the audio outputs of the Mustang Floor while pressing switches and moving the pedal to control Amplitube, or anything else via Midi, without it also changing a parameter on the Mustang floor that will change the outputed signal from the Mustang Floor?
So what I would like to know is there such a mode for the Mustang Floor, interface on with output to USB or XLR etc. and expression pedals and switches just sending Midi signals?

Thanks

Hi freddofrog,

That sounds good. What you will see on the Fender Mustang Floor in the Utility menu is the MIDI output channel setting as well as the Pedal Volume cc# Pedal Switch cc# & Pedal Expression cc# numbers. So, you should be able to control (3) cc parameters from your Mustang Floor as well as program changes. Please let me know how it goes once you get a chance to look into it.

Cheers,

Alan

I have had partial success with what I wanted to do. Amplitube lets you assign any Midi signal to its controls using a learn function in its interface.
So I can turn stomps on and off and use the wah and volume pedals.Changing presets seems a little erratic though,as I have to press the switch twice for it to change but as I learn more about Midi I think I can figure that out.

Unfortunately there is no easy way that I can see to use the Mustang Floors output while using it to switch Amplitube, or anything else for that matter, as you can't stop it changing its own settings, that then effect the output.

So to use it as a Midi controller for other software you would have to plug your guitar into a seperate audio interface, which seems a shame as the Mustangs interface is excellent.

Maybe a quick workaround would be to replace every preset with an "empty" setting with no effects, then it wouldn't be able to change anything in the Mustang and just send the Midi signals! I'll try that next.

I have to say that I do love the Mustang Floor. It sounds very good and seems well made with an unbeatable features to price ratio.
If I get this all operating then I will be able to carry just guitar plus Mustang Floor and a laptop and have a really flexible and portable setup.

If I understand correctly, you want to be able to use one (or more) of the M Floor's footswitches to send a MIDI message, without changing the M Floor's settings/sound at the same time?

I think you're right that the M Floor can't do exactly this: I think it only sends MIDI messages that reflect its own settings changes. But it's not true to say that the sound has to change. I think you can achieve (almost) what you want, something like this:

- Create two identical presets
- Configure two footswitch buttons to switch between these two identical presets
- Setup the appropriate MIDI message to associate with these footswitch presses / preset changes

Now, when you hit the footswitches, the MIDI message will be sent, and M Floor will change presets - but the sound won't change, because the presets are identical.

The only thing that probably won't work is that I expect reverb and delay tails will be cut off at the changeover point.

Hi Scott, yes that is what I would like to do. Your idea is a good one, It's just that I run out of switches if I use my stomp select ones to do that.I may have to get the add on four button switch as well as I am pretty sure that that will send midi signals too when connected through the Mustang Floor. Then at least I can set the quick select buttons on that to perform the additional switching.
I can live with the reverb and delay tails being chopped off if I can get the flexibility to have hundreds of Amps in a little bitty box :-)

I'm busy for a couple of days and then will try it out.

Thanks

Well my MS-4 Footswitch finally came and so I saved some empty presets to my Mustang Floor and then configured two Quick Access presets to use these. So what I would do is that when I want to change a preset in Amplitube these two buttons would be mapped to the Next/Previous Preset controls in Amplitube. Fiendishly clever!

Well not actually, because the footswitch doesn't cause any MIDI signals to be sent out of the MIDI ports of the Mustang Floor. Not in any of the footswitches modes..... :(

So can I very very humbly request that if it is in anyway humanly possible could the footswitch presses cause the appropriate MIDI signals to be sent out as well, Please.

Thank you.

Hi freddofrog,

Thanks for updating us. The use of the MS-4 to change Presets/transmit program changes through MIDI is something that we have not specifically tested. We will test it here and let you know what we find. It should be possible to change Presets this way and have the MIDI program change messages be transmitted as normal. Again, we will test and follow up here.

Hi freddofrog,

I have tested and successfully reproduced the behavior you are describing here. I will check in with our related engineer on this, and post updated information ASAP. Thanks for your information here and for your patience.

How to use Mustang Floor program chenge with Amplitube?

1 - Leave Mustang Floor on Preset Mode

2 - Select your preset on Amplitube

3 - Edit MIDI preference for the Amplitube preset and modify the preset program change from OFF to the number of the Mustang Floor preset

4 - save amplitube preset
