This may be totally impossible and/or impractical but I'm going to ask anyway....

Would there be a way for the basic amp and effects used in a preset to be displayed on the Fuse Preset Detail web page so that the basic setting would be known prior to downloading?

I've downloaded many presets that were titled in a manner that would lead you to believe that they for a clean sound or mild OD. When you download and try them, they are high gain amp with distortion. Country chicken pickin' preset using a Marshal or Mesa amp model.

I'm sure that all of us have downloaded a preset only to wonder what the person was thinking when they labeled it. It would save everyone time if we could see what the basic preset was before we downloaded it. Most know the basic sound that we are looking for and which amp models would be used.

Like I said, this may not be possible and some may not think that it would be practical.

Have to agree. I respect the time people take in creating and uploading presets, but I have downloaded many that really don't reflect their one word descriptions.

Listing at least the amp and effects used would be very helpful, and if there was a 'pro-forma' on the site already, it would literally only take a few seconds for the up-loader to fill in those details.

Audio previews would be even better, although given the likely wide variations in the gear that will eventually play the preset, I'm not sure that is really practical, and I suspect that is why some presets seem way off beam when downloaded and played on your own rig - they probably sounded very different to the person who made them and was using completely different gear.

Hi Guys,

Thanks very much for the input here. I will pass this along to the right folks. I agree that this would help clarify the selection of a Preset.

Cheers,

Alan

Even better: the code behind the upload/download website could look inside the preset and figure all that out for itself and display it, no need for the uploader to manually specify it (and possibly get it wrong!)
