Hi Trini,

I would suggest that you start by turning the Gain down and both Effects knobs to zero (on any Preset). Then see if the tone is dry and without Gain. If the tone is unchanged, you can also try a reset of the amp (press/hold the Exit button while powering the amp on). Please check these things out and let us know if we can assist further. Thanks.

Turn the delay/Reverb knob a little to the right and then all the way to the left. That turns off all delay effects. Do the same thing with the mod knob. That turns off all mod effects. That should do it. :)

Do you have a laptop or a netbook handy? You can install FUSE and then hook it to your Mustang amplifier with a USB cable. Then you can change ALL of the effects and parameters to the way you like.

For the Mustang I and Mustang II, this is highly recommended. I'm also a relative beginner (only been playing guitar for 2 years) and the Mustang is my favorite amp for versatility. I use it all the time. I go to it before I go to my other way-more-expensive amps. I liked it so much, I got its big brother, the Mustang V half-stack. That thing ROCKS.

And the Mustang II, I hooked up my laptop's headphones out to the Mustang's AUX in and used it as a power-amp for the amp model software on my laptop (AmpliTube). It actually works awesome. But it was apparently so loud, that I suddenly saw "SAVE" in red and "TAP" blinking red. I thought maybe I was overloading the input, so I stopped playing and panicked.

As it turns out, I was just playing so loud that the vibrations from the speaker inside the amp vibrated the MOD knob so it turned clockwise from off, turning on an effect. That's all that happened. I was rocking TOO hard.

Then for an experiment, I turned the amp's Master Volume up to 10. I think there might be one person down the street who didn't hear me. It's that damned loud.

Not bad for a 40-watt 1x12" combo, eh?

Hi Guys,

Just a quick reminder here. Fender FUSE requires a video resolution of 1024 x 768. Most netbooks do not meet this requirement and you may have a portion of the user interface clipped off on the lower portion of the screen. Otherwise, a number of netbooks out there can meet the other minimum requirements. Most notebooks should work fine assuming that they meet the requirements. Please let us know if we can assist with anything.

yes plain amp sound is possible... and easy... go try all the presets starting from the mid 80 numbers up through like 99... lots of just plain amp sounds there Trini.

I think riffy may be referring to preset #s on the MIII-V (and Floor?). I'm not sure if the MII has the same basic/unadorned amp models by default.

The good news is that you should be able to download these presets and save them on your MII if they're not already there. (Or, you can use FUSE to select each amp model in turn, ensuring no effects are selected, and save each as a separate patch to your amp [of course you may want to tweak the modeled amp settings to taste before saving]).

If you can get to fuse it is easiest. Go to twin. Turn off effects. Lower gain.

Hi Trini,

I would second the suggestion from 'drpietrzak' to select a Preset with the '65 Twin Reverb and turn the Gain off and both Effects knobs to zero. This is a good starting place. Then you can adjust to taste. Please let us know if we can assist further.
