Hi I just got my Fender Mustang amp and wonder is there any way to make it sound like the first part of this video clip of the Fender Pawn Shop Excelsior. The strat sounds a little like James Taylor's Fender that he plays on One Man Band ( Steamroller Blues) {hot funky stuff}.

Mustang experts check out the video & let me know if you have any luck with this challenge.

The clips sounds great!!

Hi gr8picker,

This one is going to be a bit tough. These amps are like apples and oranges. I don't know that you will be able to dial in a tone that is a close match to the Excelsior™ on your Fender Mustang amp. One thing you might try is to 'audition' the various models on your Mustang with the Gain on zero (effects off). This way, you could get a feel for what model might at least be a good starting place for you. Check this out. And please let us know if we can assist further.

Hi gr8picker,

I do not have access to an Excelsior BUT listening to some samples of clean sound on youtube it souds awfully close to me to the clean 57 Deluxe, particularly the "basic '57 deluxe" preset that comes with the amp.

Hope this helps

It sounds like a 57 deluxe to me as well, mixed with a bit of the Champ and a 15 inch speaker. I think either the champ model or 57 should get you the core. The speaker is the hard part as I do not think there are 15" options.

I also agree that the 57 Deluxe will get you there and some with all the Mustangs added tweak effects..theres not much the Mustang can't do 8)
