Hi!

Picked up a used Mustang I. Nice amp for gigging with my primarily acoustic trio. Since I never use the speaker (I run direct into the PA via the headphone jack), I would like to mount it in a head shell, but In can't get the back off.

I unscrewed and removed all of the screws on the back (except the AC jack screws) but can't get the back to come off. I haven't really tried prying the back off with great force for fear of ruining the cab. Am I missing something? Is the back glued on too as well as screwed on? Any help is much appreciated!

Matt

Just curious... why did you buy a Mustang I rather than, say, a Mustang Floor, which would seem to better suit what you want to do?

Fair question Scott. Here's the story......

In the acoustic trio I'm in, I use an electric (and guitar synth) on 5 or so songs and the rest of the time, play an acoustic 12 string, with everything running through the PA. It wasn't practical to drag out my electric rig for just a few songs and the whole issue of stage volume with a tube amp, micing etc. were more PIA. The Mustang series fit the bill. The reasons why I didn't go with the Floor model (but came very close) were that it seemed to be overkill for 5 songs (and I only use two amp models), it was yet more stuff on the floor in front of me (along with the guitar synth) and I couldn't justify spending $275 dollars for something I used so infrequently. To top it off, I found a used minty Mustang 1 at Guitar Center for $60, so the $$$$ part worked out perfectly!

Converting it to a head, if I go through with it, also allows me to get at the speaker and perhaps install a 1/4" jack so I can plug in different speakers (i.e a 10" or 12").

Take care!

Matt
