I have been searching for quite a while and can't find anything definite and want to clarify before I buy. I run a Mustang III as my gigging amp and love it. I have my presets for all my band songs in presets 1-10, thats all i need.

Im thinking about a Mustang 1 or 2 for practices, real small jams, etc. I just want to know if I can save my same presets into the Mustang 1 or 2 like in my 3?

I understand the 1 and 2 wont take my 4 button foot switch and only gives me 2 presets via footswitch, which is fine. I see how the I/II have the different colored LEDs - I just want to know if I can use FUSE to dump in my 10 presets into a bank of those LEDs and save it?

Secondly - if you were going to purchase a practice amp like I am doing - is the 1 enough, or should I really get the 2? I had been using an FM25 for practice and never had it above 3 on volume... We aren't a super loud band - just need enough to get over the drums.

Thanks!

The Mustangs are solid-state amps: the "tone" of the sound shouldn't change with volume (unlike valve/tube amps where the "tone" is volume/overdrive dependent).

Therefore, if all you want a quieter amp for practice, why not just turn down the master volume on your M III?

Is there another reason, beyond just volume, for getting a second, smaller amp? Maybe space-saving / lighter weight are criteria?

I haven't played either the M I or M II, but from reviews it seems the larger speaker and cabinet of the M II is generally considered to give it a better sound. It will also probably sound closer to your M III if you want to keep as similar a sound as possible.

I believe the FUSE editing is the same on all Mustang models. So yes you should be able to save your existing presets to the amp - but again I haven't personally tested that.

One other point in case it's important to you: neither the M I nor M II has an effects loop.

You are correct - I am considering the 1 or 2 just to have something smaller/lighter to carry to practices, and keep some miles off my M3 since its my gigging rig. Effects loops, etc wont matter. Just want to use the same presets if possible. if its not - I might as well stick with the FM25....

Yes, you can run all the MII presets on the MII.
I had picked the MII up about a month ago and lovin it.
I loaded alot of the MII presets on mine, the Fuse software lets you change everything.
I try'd the MI and the MII before buying, to me the 12" speaker sounded better to me.
I use mine for a lot of practice around the house as well and really never turn it past 3-4, even at those levels it keeps its tone quality.

Thanks. I went to GC at lunch and fired up the M1 with an ibanez laying nearby. Turned it up to 3 - it was plenty loud. For saving $90 - I went with the M1. When I get home from work tonight Ill load my presets before band practice and see how it goes.

Thanks all!
