Help!!!

My newly purchased (on ebay) mustang seems to have died.

It was working no problem but when I powered it up this evening it just freezes as it boots up. The display just stays on the opening "MUSTANG" screen.

Tried powering on/off nemerous times but no joy.

Tried connecting it to the PC via Fuse but Fuse does not see/connect to the amp.

Tried booting it up connected to Fuse with the data wheel pressed in to re-load the F/W and Fuse then sees the amp and seems to update the F/W ok but when it completes and I switch off and back on to use the amp same problem its still froze.

Tried a factory re-set as well and the amp is un-responsive.

Any suggestions??

Shame I quite liked the amp but looks like i'll be going back to my valve amps.

In the long run, ss amps are more reliable than tube amps, but it sounds like you got a lemon. Does the Ebay seller have a return policy? If you bought it new Fender will repair it free. Good luck with it.

Hi assat012,

It sounds like you got a defective amp. I would start by contacting the Ebay seller. If you do not have any luck with them, please contact us at the number below, and we will be happy to assist and do whatever we can from our end.

Thanks Alan. I did contact Fender UK (I'm in the UK) and I have to say I'm somewhat disappointed that their answer was in effect buy a new amp as the cost of the repair will be as much as a new amp and the warranty is not transferable.

As you can appreciate I'm somewhat reluctant to do this given my experience with this one. Although I brought it second hand it was mint and never gigged and clearly well looked after.

I'd be interested in your views

Marc

Hi gtrman100,

Thanks for the update. I thought that you were indicating that you purchased the amp new from Ebay. Please send an email to us with your real name, Forum name and amp serial number, and I will get in touch with Fender UK and see if I can do anything further to assist. I cannot make any promises. But let me see if there is anything more I can do. Also, please be sure to include the name of the person you communicated with at Fender UK (if possible). Thanks.

Hi Alan- You mistakenly addressed your post to me, it's Assat012 that is having the problem. My Mustang III is working extremely well! Thanks, as always for your response.

An update and a thank you.

My amp has now been sorted out free of charge by Fender UK who I believe replaced the DSP PCB.

As stated all this was done free of charge including shipping.

So thanks for the superb support Fender.

Hello! I'm sorry to say that I have this exact same problem. I bought my Mustang III used about a year ago, also in great condition and it has served me very well. I've been so happy with this amp and all the built-in amps and effects. I've played every day without any issues since I bought it, but today when I brought it to my new rehearsal place I plugged it in and after playing about 3 minutes this same problem occured, the screen froze, the sound disappeared and it was totally unresponsive. I played louder than I've done before since we had a whole band (before I just played at home), but I didn't max it out, I was at about 70% volume.

Is there any way I might get the same assistance as assat012? I'd be happy to provide you with my full name, serial number etc. Another question, I've spent hours creating the presets that I want, if I get the amp repaired will it be factory reset or is there any way I can get to keep my settings?

Btw I just want to say that I love your products, nothing beats the sound from a Stratocaster through a Fender amp, I've had all sorts of guitars and amps but I always end up coming back to Fender.

Thanks in advance,
Rabbe

You can update firmware, or do a factory reset.

The reset will nuke your custom sounds, hope you
backed them up somewhere.

An out-of-warranty repair may be worth it,
depends on how much you value the presets,
and also on finding a reputable experienced,
repair service, who will quote a diagnosis $rate,
and a repair fee

I have a stack of junk-mail envelopes, and all
my unique sounds have the knobs/settings drawn
for future reference.

Sweetwater are selling the Eleven-Rack for $199
during the holidays.
Good luck

Hello again, I gave up trying to repair it and bought a brand new Mustang GT 100 with extended warranty of 6 years so now I'm good for at least 8 years 8)

Thanks,
Rabbe
