Hi,
I´ve got a Fender Mustang Floor and and a Blackstar HT 40 Combo.
I´d like to use the effects from the board and the basic sound from the amp. So I need to somehow switch off the amp simulation.
How can I do that?

Thx in advance.
Seb

Ummm, read the Mustang Floor manual? :D

What you want to do is on page 4, clearly headed "Bypassing Amp Settings"

You can download the manual here...

Sry, I must have missed that.
Is it possible to plug in the board via the 4-cable-method?

Yes and no. Yes, you can connect it up using the 4-cable method. However it probably won't achieve what you're expecting. The 4-cable method is usually used with multi-fx units that have their fx-loop in between the 'pre' effects (distortion, etc) and 'post' effects (modulation, etc). So the real amp's pre-amp ends up in between the 'pre' and 'post' effects, matching the conventional order of things in a signal chain.

However, the Mustang Floor's fx loop is in front of all the effects, and you can't change that. So you end up with all the effects coming after the real amp's pre-amp. That's not necessarily a problem - I'm sure lots of people do this and create good sounds with it. You just need to know this so you can adjust things accordingly. Also, Alan Willey from Fender has posted several times in this forum describing ways (not 4-cable method) to connect the Mustang Floor in conjunction with real amps. Worth searching for those and reading them.

The main point why I ask is the following:
I tried to create a solo-boost by activating the overdrive with little gain and high level. The result was not so great. It completely messed up my basic amp sound. I just need something to boost the crunchy sound for solo stuff etc.
How can I achieve that?!

Here's one suggestion.

Connect output of Mustang Floor (MF) to input of amp. Forget about fx loops on either amp or MF.

Turn off amp modelling on the MF (so that it doesn't interfere with the 'natural' tone of your real amp).

Use MF just for overdrive effect, eq, etc - essentially in stomp-box mode.

Or alternatively, if you want to use the MF's amp modelling:

Connect the output of MF to the fx return on your amp (so you bypass the pre-amp of your Blackstar). Note there is now no connection to the main input of your amp.

Leave the amp modelling on the MF turned on, and adjust thsi and other effects to suit.

Hi Guys,

As scott-uk is saying, you have a number of options here. There is some useful information in the User Manual. Basically, you may want to decide if you want to use the amp's own tone or use the modeling from the Fender Mustang Floor. Then you can pinpoint which way you want to connect the gear. If you are going to connect using the amp's instrument (guitar) input, bring the output level dial (back panel) down on your Mustang Floor first, then turn it up to where the input level is set to what you need. Please let us know if we can assist further.

P.S. Thanks to scott-uk for assisting here. :)

Scott, question? how do I setup my MusFloor connecting to a Blackstar ht-5rh head? I only want to use delay, chorus and verb on musfloor, so essentially post effects. i have disabled the amp and stomp button on Musfloor and engaged the fx loop button on bottom left of musfloor for that preset. I cannot figure out how to configure it so I can use my ht-5rh preamp overdrive channel and have musfloor after the tubes just for those mod effects. Ht-5rh has an effects loop also. Thoughts?
