As part of the latest firmware update this is the *new* method:

Revised how EXP-1 expression pedal calibration is performed. The new procedure will provide users with added flexibility to customize the range of their pedal, i.e. they can throw away some heel range to get more toe sensitivity. The EXP-1 expression pedal calibration procedure is as follows:
-Press and hold UTIL while powering on, UTIL LED should light up for 1 second.
-Move the expression pedal between the desired heel and toe endpoints to set the range.
-Turn the encoder to complete the process.

This part of the procedure:
"Move the expression pedal between the desired heel and toe endpoints to set the range."
is a bit vague at best and overall not very user friendly... there is no indication that the Mustang-III is doing anything during this which just adds ultimately to the confusion... plus, do you push the heal down first then the toe? What if you push the toe down first? Does the speed you change direction from one to the other matter, what if you stop in the middle for a second then continue on? Sorry to be a pain in the $@!, but this is a very gray area that needs to either be revised or fully explained in detail.

Hi Tony65,

Thanks for your thoughts here. You will want to place the pedal in the heel position, then turn on the amp while holding the Utility button (until the Utility button light goes out) and simply move the pedal to the toe position and then switch the amp to Preset 01. At this point, calibration will be complete.

Please let us know if we can assist further.

Thanks, Alan... that's the little detail that was missing from the procedure.. I believe now based on your description that I have been doing it wrong - I started with the pedal in about the midway of travel then moved to the heal then the toe.... maybe that's why I was having trouble with it reaching full range.
