I bought a Mustang I a month ago. I can return it by today for a refund. I am thinking about a Mini. I like to haul my amp outside and play, and the battery power would be nice for this. The speaker is 6.5" compared to 8" in the MI. There are a few less onboard controls on the Mini, but I'm not a big tweaker, and if you hook it up to FUSE, then you have all the same controls as on the MI. I'm looking strictly for a highly portable practice amp -- primarily bedroom, so I don't need a great deal of volume. I have a tube amp for more serious play. Can I get decent enough sound out of the Mini to take advantage of the smaller size and better portability?

If portability is your top priority then the mini would be your choice. The M1 is already fairly portable.

Maybe Fender should come out with a Mustang Case? Maybe the Mustang guitar with a case that has a small Mustang amp built in. :P

Cheers,

I have a Mustang II, GDEC 3-30 and Mini. I really like the Mini. It can get pretty loud (for such a small amp) if you tweak the advanced volume settings on some of the amps in FUSE. I do like mine. :D

I have a Mini and an MIII. Given your criteria, I would say yes, you would be pleased with the Mini. I like mine a lot, and use it outdoors frequently.

MIII and Mini owner. I use mine on the porch, on the golf cart, late nite iPhone music and even in late nite jams. It sounds great cranked up and the batteries last a good long time. Love it!

I guess the answer is no. I got a Mini in the mail today and played with it for about 45 minutes. There is no bottom end at all, and when I raised the volume to an acceptable level, there was a lot of buzzing on all of the amp models. As much as I wanted it to work, I'm probably going to send it back.
