I downloaded a .fuse preset from the web, saved it to a location on my Mustang 2, and tweaked the settings to my guitar. Now I want to save that preset in my computer under a different name, and also rename the setting under Fuse app. How do I do that? When I hit "Save" under the preset name in Fuse, nothing happens (I would normally get a popup allowing me to rename it). Thanks...dave

Hi Dave. I also had the same question, when I happened upon a solution by accident. So I don't know if it's the correct way to do it, but it works. You must rename the .fuse file in your computer (remember, the name must start with MU_). Then, when you hit the save button inside the Fuse software, the name will change to whatever you renamed the file.

I wonder about this as well. I perform a BACKUP to the computer. This will save all your amp's current patches to the "fender" file on your computer, with a date. Every time you BACKUP, a new folder is created, so old patches are not written over or erased.

I think the software designers simply forgot the "save as".

I m still struggling with that szenario though I know about it:

Loading PresetXYZ (fantastic for singlecoils), playing humbuckers and tweaking it, if I'm lucky I have a nice new one in the end. Willing to save it. Ooooh, than Im writing over the original one! Do I allready have a backup? NO!
Soooo - lets start from the beginning with the "new" button, hoping to remember all the settings ...

Yes, or you can manually rename your old preset in Fuse directory like Jamesio said.

Hey jamesio - thanks, that works. However I found what was confusing me - the little PC - AMP mode switch on the FUSE Control Panel. When I got that straightened out, the following procedure works fine from within FUSE:
* turn amp PRESET KNOB to desired position
* switch FUSE Ctl Panel mode to PC
* SAVE (to PC) - assign new name (this saves to default preset location)
(if you now switch to AMP mode and SAVE, the old name doesn't change for some reason)
* Toggle amp PRESET KNOB to reset FUSE Ctl Panel to "AMP" mode and original position
* IMPORT new name (brings in name and settings from PC)
* (still in "AMP" mode) SAVE (to amp) --> popup box: assign new name (again) & ck position
Amp should contain preset in orig. position with new name and original settings.
This may be more work than your scheme, but works entirely within FUSE. There may be a simpler way, but I haven't found it yet. Seems like here are some "quirks" in FUSE, but maybe it's just me.

There is a Save Preset As, go to the top left corner of Fuse Software and click on Main Menu. A drop down menu will appear. Click on File and Select Save Preset As, by clicking on it. This will open a box where you can name the preset to your liking. When you save it, it will appear on your PC under your Fuse Preset folder. If you want to store it on your Mustang, select the preset location where you want it to be. Go to Main Menu again, select File and click on Import preset. This will open up the Fuse Preset folder, click on the preset you want and it will be downloaded to your Mustang.
Hope this helps you guys.

10,000 thanks! I newer had the idea to open the menue for the desired operation. Because everything else related to presets has a dedicated button below the Preset-selector. I guess also the fender staff learned s.th new ;)

Same here. Thanks! Some of us are too afraid of losing everything if we push the wrong button LOL!
I'm going to explore those drop downs a bit more.

Not sure what my problem was but no matter how many times I tried the suggestions above, I couldn't save a Fuse Preset to my Mustang 2 amp without using the save button on the amp, which meant, among other things, I couldn't change the amber presets even from Fuse (since the save button on the amp will never change the amber presets).

Then I searched the Forum and found another way to save Fuse Presets to the amp that works for me. Open the Media Library on your computer (with your amp plugged in by USB and powered on, of course). Then find the preset you want to save to the amp. Right-click the preset in the Media Library and chose "Save to Amp". That works for me, and is probably old news to most folks, but I'm still learning my way around.

Thanks, hobbyist. That sounds like a good alternative - I'll try it and see which works faster and fat-finger-free. Good to have options. I'm learning my way around too.
