I think nadzab has it right.

We're not whining, we're just puzzled, and the lack of any explanation from Alan or other Fender mods leaves a vacuum in which people just speculate.

Is the Twin model oddly quiet relative to other models and to the amp it is modeled on ? - demonstrably yes.

Do we know why ? - no.

Indeed! And as to why some people here are so vehemently opposed to the idea of changing this makes absolutely no sense at all. If all the models had equal output volume capacity, then you can make any one of them as loud or as soft as you want WITHOUT sacrificing any of the available power output from the power amp. It's not going to hurt anybody if Fender implements this change. Your Mustang will still sound as good as it ever did so why would anyone argue against this? There is absolutely ZERO downside to it.

I too like to use the Twin model for pure cleanness (its claim to fame) and therefore have to adjust all my other modeled amps level to equal the Twin's loudness level. It sure does seem bass ackwards to me. Alan, do you think this could be something addressed and fixed in a future update? One of my oh so few complaints about my Mustang IV.

Well, for me, there are other models that do a decent clean sound besides the Twin. The Deluxe models for example also produce a beautiful clean sound at low gain settings but their low overall output at those gain settings makes it impractical to use them unless you use a compressor in the post position to boost their output. That works ok for me for the most part but it does change their sound a little bit... And may be too much for some. I think the answer might be a "make up" gain control either as part of the Cab Sim or as a separate module after the amp model or the Cab Sim or as a part of the Preset Volume.
