Hi guitar ninjas!

I wanted to buy an external looper. But I remember that when I brought an external distortion my amp went crazy. Sound was horrible. I think that it was cuased by addidtional Mustang's effects. Now I'm wondering if when I plug in a looper the sound would be clear or will it be changed by Mustang effects? What should I do?

A looper doesn't change the sound, it just records it and plays it back. So it shouldn't interfere with the Mustang's effects. I don't think the Mustang I has an effects loop (which is where you'd normally put a looper)? So you'd have to put the looper in front of the amp, which doesn't give you as much versatility. See my post in this topic:

If you put your distortion pedal in front of the Mustang (ie guitar to pedal, then pedal to guitar input on amp), then it doesn't surprise me the sound wasn't great, if you were trying to use the Mustang's effects too. You'd probably want to turn off any distortion effects in the Mustang, and turn down the gain on the amp model in the Mustang. I think with a Mustang I you can only do that through Fuse.

I have my Digitech Jamman looper plugged into my Mustang I AUX input.

I don't use the looper in real-time when I play. I just record progressions, store them and play them back during practice.

I plug into the looper any time I want to record a new loop, and then plug into the Mustang I's input when I want to improvise over the loop.

The Master volume control effects both the loop signal and the guitar signal, so I adjust the output of the loop pedal so that the two are balanced.
