I have noticed the fizz problem on my Mustang 1 when I use the aux input. Is this evidence that the problem arises in the power amp section?

Evidence? Possibly
Proof? No

There shouldn't be a problem with the power amp section- I run an emulated out from my blackstar pedal into the aux-in with no issues whatsoever.

Previous reports of the Fizz problem suggest it only occurs on Mustang III, IV and V, not on the Mustang I or II. This is the first report I've seen for the latter.

All the evidence for the M III etc strongly suggests it's in the power amp section - in as much as it's only been reported (that I have seen) as being heard through the amp's speakers, not via the headphone out or USB out. If it was a problem in the pre-amp or digital processing sections, the problem would also be audible through those outputs.

Also, the problem is reported as only (or most easily) audible when playing single, clean guitar notes, and only/mostly on the decay of those notes. What is being played through the aux-in? If it's a multi-note/instrument backing track and it's distorting, it's possible the cause is something other than the infamous fizz. Could it be that the line-level signal being fed to the aux-in is too high and thus clipping?

Kind of makes you wonder just how many reported problems are due to inexperience/overactive imagination. Not that I think it's never been a problem, but I think it's been blown way out of proportion.

I was getting a funny "Artefact" through mine yesterday. Using the Aux in and Headphones.

When I turned the guitar down it went away. Reckon it was because I sitting using the computer for settings etc too the Pick ups were picking a bit of interferance.

what was your set up at the time?

Hi Guys,

It sounds like what is being discussed here are ground loop/wiring issues between PCs and amps. The best way to test this out is to disconnect the PC from the Fender Mustang I/II and see if the behavior is still present. If folks in this thread are still seeing issues after testing this, please contact us for further support. Thanks.
