I play my acoustic guitar in church, and my Taylor acoustic sounds great direct into the PA. Now I may start playing my MIM strat sometimes. I have three questions:

1) Is the Mustang Floor a good choice for playing my strat direct into the PA?

2) If I were going to do this, would it be best to go into a DI box first, or is that not needed?

3) While I really like the sound of my Taylor direct to the PA, if I wanted on occasion to add a little chorus or reverb to it, for example, would the Mustang Floor be a way to do that?

I would especially be interested in the experience of anyone who has actually done something similar. Thanks. (By the way, I recently bought a Mustang 2 for home practice and am quite happy with it)

I also play a Strat in a church band and have been going direct to the PA for years with various equipment. I'm planning to get the Mustang Floor this summer and intend to keep going direct to the PA with it. The Mustang Floor has both XLR outs and 1/4" outs, and can be 'voiced' for going into a PA, a combo, or a stack, with various tonal settings. So, a direct box shouldn't be needed. What's great about the Mustang Floor is that in Mono mode, the XLR outs can be voiced for going into a PA (I assume that means with added speaker simulation) and at the same time, the 1/4" outs can be voiced for going into a combo (I assume that means without the speaker simulation), like the Tech 21 Power Engine I use. I have to wait until I get it to hear how good the direct to PA sound quality is, but I expect it to be satisfied with it. The Mustang Floor also includes "Studio Preamp" as one of it's amp models, which should be perfect for using it with an acoustic guitar. My Strat has an LR Baggs X-Bridge (piezo pickup for acoustic sounds). I don't use that alot becuse there's an acoustic guitar player in the band. When he's not there, I use the X-Bridge to add an acoustic sound for some things, and I intend to use the Studio Preamp model in the Mustang Floor for that. I don't have it yet, but I've looked into it quite a bit and I think I'll love it.

Hi Ovangol2,

As DapperDan7 has stated, the Fender Mustang Floor should be ideal for the application you are talking about. The balanced XLR outputs and adjustable rear panel output level control as well as the ground lift switch and unique 'voicing' selections make this a great choice for what you want to do. As also stated here, the Studio Preamp model included with this product is ideal for use with acoustic guitar. Please let us know if we can assist further.
