You (Fender) should have about 10 Emails from me on this topic, sent to Loren. With screenshots, serial-No's, presets, examples and accurate description. She/he told me, your technicians could reproduce the error. I have been sent a link to a Beta-Release 2.6.012 witch solved the error concerning the main controls, but unfortunatly not for the advanced amp section. But the new release 2.6.025 has the error again in worst form, even the main controls show the wrong state - that of the previous preset. If you quit Fuse and start again the right values are shown. The same if you choose an amp model with a different structure in between (Vox clean -> Champ -> Vox gain / not possible with footswitch of course). I think it is a "communication problem" between Fuse and Silverlight.

Short: Create two Presets with the same Amp-model, let's say Vox-Clean and Vox-Gain. If you switch between them (with footswitch, with selector on the amp or in the Fuse GUI) the changes are not shown on the screen. If you edit your preset further you will save some bullshit because you cannot see what you save.

Hi Frente,

I apologize for the confusion. Loren is no longer with Fender. However, this issue is known and we have addressed it in our next update for Fender FUSE coming soon. I just did not know it by your description 'Frozen Knob'. Again, this fix will be in the next release. Thanks for your patience.

Cheers,

*Moved EXP-1 expression pedal Volume mode (Mustang III-V) control to adjust volume level after the Amp section but before the Post-Amp Effects section.

So it was after the post-amp effects, this was a "hard" change not an option added to select either? Which means than if you put a delay stompbox pre-amp effects the volume pedal will effect the repeats but if you put a rack delay after the amp the delays will tail if you cut the volume with the pedal?

Hi Stinger22,

Yes, if you place the Delay (in this example) in the 'pre' position rather than the 'post' position, the Volume control as it has been updated will cut off the tail of your delay.

Thanks, not much of a volume pedal guy but do LOVE being able to control the amp gains with the pedal. But nice to know how it can be setup now. I was using the M3 at band practice last night and on all three of the amp models I was using, a SuperSonic a Bassman and a Twin set with the EXP-1 controlling the amp gain. Being able to "ride" the gain control with a pedal and mixing that with volume control on the guitar itself just opens up a wide range of amp tones. Can easily go from a clean T-Bone Shuffle tone to a dirtier Texas Blues tone with the interplay. Being able to set the range is a BIG plus using it like this.

Hi Stinger22,

You're welcome. It sounds like it is working out pretty well for you. Please let us know if we can assist further.

Hi,

otherwise this seems to be a nice firmware update, but after installing it on my Mustang IV the indicator lights of EXP-1 stopped working with MS-4 footswitch. Symptoms are the same as described on some thread from 2010: lights work when the amp is powered without MS-4 connected. When the footswitch is plugged in then, everythings fine. But if the amp is powered on with both EXP-1 and MS-4 chained together and plugged in, the light just don't work. EXP-1 controls the amp and works otherwise fine, though. Before the update lights worked, no matter how the amp was put on.

Footswitch says "u-3" at startup, so it should be the correct one. Has anybody else came across with this problem or do you at Fender have some knowledge on it? Seemingly it is a software problem as nothing else has changed in my setup than the firmware before the lights stopped working. They would be nice lights to have...

Thanks,
Sami

Hi kioskinen,

We would like to suggest a couple of troubleshooting steps. First, can you please check the behavior of the pedals when you connect both pedals and then power up the amp after? Then, please try connecting the pedals to the amp after you power the amp on and see if the pedals behave correctly. Please let us know what you find. Also, can you please provide the serial number of your pedal, and we can go form there. Thanks very much.

Thanks for the update. I hope a next one could have more general-purpose improvements for us non-exp pedal M3+ users, at least remembering FX/amp settings until preset switch, and configurable volume knob ramp (detailed in that past thread. I hope thread advertising is okay :)).

Hello Alan,

Thanks for the quick response! First I have to apologise that I blamed the firmware version 1.10. I reflashed back to FW 1.9 and the EXP-1 problem still exists! Funny though, that the lights started to malfunct after upgrading to FW 1.10.

I tested these combinations again:

1) Powering the amp after connecting both pedals (MS-4 and EXP-1): lights don't work in EXP-1, but both pedals control the amp correctly. At very few startups (maybe one out of 30 or something like that) the lights of EXP-1 work correctly.
2) Powering the amp after connecting EXP-1 only: lights work correctly. The MS-4 can be connected after startup and lights still work correctly.
3) Powering the amp without pedals and connecting the pedals after that: everything works correctly.

For clarity, all lights and number display in MS-4 have worked correctly every time. Serial numbers of the pedals are CMTB12500211 (EXP-1) and CGPA11013369 (MS-4). Hopefully you can find out something!

Thanks,
Sami

Hi Sami,

I will check into it. If the pedals are working correctly when connecting after powering the amp on, I would (obviously) suggest that you go that route for now. Thanks.

Hi kioskinen,

Thanks for following up with us. We are continuing to try to reproduce this behavior here. We have been unsuccessful to date. We have heard from a few users like yourself reporting this behavior. And we are seeing success when these selected users (like yourself) connect the pedals after powering on. So, we will continue to look into various possibilities and post any updated information as soon as we have it.
