Hi,
I just got what I think would be of GREAT help with my setup and others, for sure. It would be VERY nice if there was an option to lock the 4 buttons switch (MS4) mode. Now that I have the 2 buttons switch(MS2), I basically use my MS4 to switch effects on and off and my MS2 to go up and down. But too often, my foot press on the mode button and... . I need to tap dance to come back to mode 3 while playing which is taking all my concentration. Imagine playing on a soft clean sound and while attempting to add a little overdrive, you get that heavy distortion that's set to the default preset.

That would be great if I could lock my MS4 to mode 3, obviously permitting access to the tuner.

Hi,
just reiterate the need of having the option of locking the mode button. I had a gig yesterday night and everything was perfect... almost. The mode button on the 4 buttons footswitch is way too nearby the stomp button. I accidently pressed the 2 buttons at the time and having to figure out how to come back to my setting was quiet embarrassing  . I finished playing barefoot so I had more control with my big finger toe!

I really think it would be an easy add on to the next firmware. Something like:

Mode button mode: 1 lock, 2 lock, 3 lock or free mode (like it is right now). Still leaving the access to the tuner mode.

Right now, I think my solution would be to lock the mode button with some kind of a box over it and get me a pedal tuner.

Have you tried pointy toed cowboy boots????

I have done the same thing. I use mine differently with my playing style and being just a blues band. I leave the 4 button in mode one with the three presets I will use throughout the night and off to the side for when I need to switch or tune up. I keep the 2 button up front in the stompbox/modulation mode. One on my presets uses the compressor for a boost the other two the overdrive which is on the left button and all have vibrato assigned to the right which I use rarely. I also have the EXP-1 pedal that controls the amp gain with a limit range which gives me broad tonal range.

I know all the possibilities that the 2 footswitchs give me and I tried a lot of different combination which finally bring me to use the 4 buttons as a stomp/mod/delay on/off switch and the 2 buttons as and up and down.

I'm in a cover band and we play a lot of different style and I need access to my 3 effects in some presets. Maybe I'll get use to it but it takes all my concentration to press on the right button while having shoes! Just hoping to not live that situation again!

Yeah I like the customization you have with the 2 & 4 button switches. Add in the EXP-1 and it makes a great live setup.

I have the exp-1, it's a really great addition. I use it mainly for the wah in some presets and to control the gain in some others. It's nice to have all that versatility.

I often play barefoot to fix this problem also!

Hi,
While you're waiting for a Firmware fix, just take a guitar jackplug
and screw off the outer metal cover and pop it over the Mode
button and tighten, after setting it to your desired mode .
Fits perfectly. Take it off to tune, or just poke somethin' thro' the
open top to change Mode or Tune.
It looks Ok - like a jack plugged into the Footswitch.
It wont easily move and will prevent accidental contact.
Works just fine for me.

Jim

I just reposted this in the EXP-1 section. But if you're having some problems with a Fender 4 Button switch, make sure it's the right one for the amp. They all look the same on the outside, but they're not. Here's the list....

Mustang 3/4/5 Two-Button Footswitch: 0080997000

Mustang 3/4/5 Four-Button Footswitch: 0080996000

G-DEC ULT-4 Footswitch: 0994070000

And just for clarity and completeness ...

Mustang 1/2 One-Button Footswitch: 0994049000
