Apologies if this has been answered before, but I can't find this in any of the product documentation or other online information, and want to check the facts before buying...

The Mustang IV comes with a 4-button footswitch, which can be daisy-chained with the (separately purchased) 2-button footswitch to give 6 buttons and their associated features. [EDIT/erratum: the online info I read implied these would be daisy-chained together, hence this post; the replies below confirm the Amp actually has separate sockets for each]

The EXP-1 Expression Pedal documentation states that it too can be daisy-chained with the 4-button footswitch on a Mustang IV, but doesn't mention the 2-button switch.

My question is: can all three of these be connected together with a Mustang IV? That is, the 4-button footswitch, 2-button footswitch and the EXP-1 expression pedal?

Thanks,
Scott

My Mustang III has separate jacks for the 2 and 4 button foot switches, they are not daisy chained. The exp daisy changes with the 4 button switch only, and the cable from the exp plugs in the jack on the back of the amp for the 4 button switch. I don't know if your IV has a jack for a 2 button switch.

Hi scott-uk,

The Fender Mustang III-V all have both 2 and 4 button footswitch jacks. So you should have no problem connecting all three pedals you are inquiring about. Please let me know if I can assist further.

Cheers,

Alan, 2turbos,

Thank you very much for your helpful and informative replies. I think it's time to go buy me a Mustang...

[Alan - a couple of suggestions to Fender - it would be useful for the Fender website product pages for these Amps to include pictures of the back panel showing all the connectors; also for the EXP-1 documentation to state explicitly that it can be used in addition to both the 4 and 2 button foot switches. Thanks!]

Scott

Hi scott-uk,

You're very welcome. And I will keep your suggestions in mind as we continue to update and work on our website and documentation. In the mean time, you can view the connection points and related information on our various products by searching the Fender Knowledgebase for the user manuals. For example, the Fender Mustang IV manual would be here: http://support.fender.com/manuals/guita ... nglish.pdf. Please let me know if I can assist further.

Alan,

Thanks for your reply. Not to extend this thread but just to make a closing comment/request:

I already have that manual, and it doesn't show the back panel. It shows some of the connectors, in individual diagrams, and talks about the connections to the others. Especially (for this topic), it doesn't show the footswitch connections at all, or make any reference to connecting the EXP-1 in conjunction with both footswitches.

So my suggestion was that a simple diagram/photo of the whole back panel, annotated with exactly what can be connected to what, in what order, would be a useful addition, either to that manual or elsewhere on the Fender website. (Or if such a diagram already exists, I couldn't find it.)

Many thanks and best regards,
Scott
