Received an early fathers days give - a Fender Select Stratocaster w/ maple fret a real beautiful instrument... and a Mustang-III amplifier... great sound from this combination! Problem is that I haven't touched a guitar in 35+ years, but I'm having a ball relearning *everything* I think I'm now up to about 5 or 6 chords! :)

Anyway... The manual is a bit thin for a second time novice like me and the Mustang-III at power up always defaults to the "00 Liquid Solo" preset... how can I change it so that it defaults to the last preset I selected before power down?

Also, can I set one of the foot switches to tune mode?

BTW... I've already updated the firmware to version 1.6

TIA

OK, first upgrade to Firmware Version 1.9:

That's the current version.

As far as start up default for the preset, I don't think you can change that behavior, but I know you can copy one of the other presets and overwrite the 00 preset. This does wipe out the original preset 00 though....

Fat finger slip up :) I meant version 1.9!

How can I copy over the "0" preset? Do I use the Fuse software or can I do it through the menus on the 'III amp?

Whenever you start spinning knobs on the amp the 'Save' button turns red. Push the save button to save your current settings to the preset that you are currently on. If you decide not to save, just turn to a different preset and then go back.

Or in FUSE, tweak a setting that you like and use the 'save as' menu to designate the preset number you want to save over.

And fyi, if you ever want to restore the amp back to factory settings there's an easy procedure to do that.

Hi Tony65,

The Fender Mustang series amps are set to default to Preset 00 on start up. What you would want to do is to update Preset 00 to the tone/effects that you like. You can Save the current Preset 00 to Fender FUSE (Media Library, Amp tab, right click/control click and select get Preset from Amp), or to another loction on the amp (press Save on the amp and select the alternate location). In regard to the tuner function from the footswitch, you would need the optional MS-4 four button footswitch (P/N 008-0996-000) to access this. Please let us know if we can assist further. And enjoy your new gear! :)
