All this one says in the middle is Fender but going my the numbers it is the G-DEC model. They should give it a G-D designation and B for the Bass G-DEC and S for the Super Sonic. But perhaps it will work more reliably. So I guess I'm buying another one. But this making you buy a new one for every single model is GD BS.

Hi tzer0,

I wanted to check in here and see if there is any way I could assist. Are you saying that you have a Fender ULT-4 pedal and you are trying to use it with a Fender Mustang? Thanks.

I have a Ult 4 switch pedal and it works as MS4 in my Mustang III. I bought it for Mustang amp by Amazon, and they sent me the Ult.
The problem is when the Ult is chained to Exp-1. Lights don't work, but the switches and expression/volume in bouth pedals work fine. I got lost if I can't see the amp screen... I need to see what I'm using by the lights in the pedals. If MS4+Exp-1 do that, without light errors, I would buy it.

It's the G-DEC ULT-4 Footswitch: 0994070000. The Mustang 3/4/5 Two-Button Footswitch: 0080997000 cam with the amp. I didn't know the Mustang 3/4/5 Four-Button Footswitch: 0080996000 was different. I ordered one yesterday. Hopefully it will have improved Mode switching.

Hi ugabin,

If you are experiencing an issue with the lights on your EXP-1 not coming on when you power cycle your amp, then you should try to disconnect and reconnect the cable that goes to your Pedal. Please let us know how it goes and if we can assist you further.

Cheers,

We solved that issue earlier in the thread, but thanks for playing. We've moved on to why does Fender make 2 different 4 switch boxes that look exactly the same, instead of one that works for both kinds of amps. That's the $64 question. Now if I could get both for only $64. But don't worry...I already ordered the other one. I'll let you know if it works any better.

I´ve done that, but the lights problem remains...

Hi tzer0,

There are two different foot switches because there are two different amp lines that use them. The amp product lines are significantly different from each other. I hope that information helps. Please let us know if we can help further.

Hi ugabin,

Powering on your amp and then connecting the pedal(s) should correct this issue. It sounds like you are still seeing it. So, I would suggest contacting us directly. Please include your Forum name, real name, text from your post here, and the serial numbers from the amp and pedals. Then we can go from there. Thanks very much.

I've done that too. You told me that I got the wrong pedal. But ULT-4 works with my Mustang III. It crashes when I use it with the EXP-1 chained.

I've been asking because I need to be sure MS-4 works fine so I maybe buy it because I can't return stuff from Costa Rica. Thanks.

Hi ugabin,

Thanks for the clarification. So, the ULT-4 is not compatible with the Fender Mustang III. You will definitely need to get the MS-4 to have it function correctly with the EXP-1 pedal on your Mustang III. Please let us know if we can assist further.

After some false starts, ie. getting shipped more G-Dec Pedals, I finally got the Mustang 3/4/5 Four-Button Footswitch: 0080996000. And Bigdee was absolutely correct. It performs reliably. The one for the G-DEC will work in a pinch, but you'll get all kinds of anomalies that won't make you happy. But I'm happy now.

Here's that list again if you're having problems. Check the number on the upper right corner of the switch....

Mustang 3/4/5 Two-Button Footswitch: 0080997000

Mustang 3/4/5 Four-Button Footswitch: 0080996000

Mustang 1/2 One-Button Footswitch: 0994049000

G-DEC ULT-4 Footswitch: 0994070000
