I think this is a softare matter, and I hope they find the answer soon. Please let me know if there is a solution, because I live in Costa Rica and I can´t return any of my stuff...

Would be great if they work as expected. Is a very funny equipment!.

Fender TSL,

Thank you for the offer to help, but I'm afraid it's too late. I sent the EXP-1 back this morning, and my new Morley volume pedal is scheduled to be delivered tomorrow.

You will miss the EXP-1, it so much more than a volume pedal.

I had the same problem. Yes the quick fix was just to unplug the peddle an plug it back in. The MS-4 has the same problem. Sometimes it just quit working, and you had to unplug it and plug it back in. The cable it came with looks like it was made from a lamp cord, and I had response problems with it -- Like getting it past the first bank of preset. But I got better response from them by using good cable to the amp and a good short cable between the EXP-1 and the MS4.

As was said in the above post. The EXP-1 is more than a volume pedal. So you need to see in FUSE what it's doing in a particular setting and adjust it accordingly. When you see where the pedal is in the signal chain of the preset, you can adjust the settings in Fuse to best take advantage of it --like changing the gain setting, modulation speeds or delay repeats on the fly while you're playing. If it's being used for something else it doesn't seem to some setting. If anyone knows how to change it place in the signal chain of a preset, let me know. I'd love to learn how to do that.

Hobbys: so you finally get the MS4 and the EXP-1 chained working as expected?. I'm interested becuase Amazon sent me a wrong 4 footswitch (I bought it as Fender Mustang 4 switch pedal, never thought it wasn´t!!), I live in Costa Rica and can´t return it, so if the right MS4 works good with EXP-1 I probbably buy it (again, this time by Guitar Center!). But I would like to try if the 4 switch that I have works as MS4 + EXP-1 are expected. It does all the MS4 is suposed to do in my Mustang III, except when is chained to EXP-1.
I'll do the cable thing... When I saw the "lamp cable" noticed it doesn´t seemed like music gear... but I use it because it was what Fender includes...
I apreciate your help.

I just got a EXP1 and it works fine with my MS4, I was a little worried when reading this thread but all is fine with my Mustang IV and pedals.

Yeah, the only problem I had with the MS-4 was the freeze-up, no lights. Easy fix, either plug it in again or reboot the amp. But with the EXP-1 and the lamp cord it was not mode switching, or delayed switching, wouldn't go beyond preset 06, generally acting up.

Put it on a shorter, better cable and performance is much improved. Occasional mode hangup, or it jumps past one more to another, but not nearly as bad. But with those long bad cables, it seemed baffle, almost blocking, or back logging commands.

Though I have had it a while. I originally purchased it for a G-DEC. And the Mode switch gets used the most. So it could be wearing out. It's not like a stomp box switch, with that reassuring click, to tell you it's switched --just an LED that goes Red Green or Amber. So it's not really surprising it might not switch, or skip a mode in switching.

It seems that you are using the G-DEC 4 button footswitch with your Mustang.
The G-DEC 4 button footswitch and the Mustang one, even though they look the same, are different and are not compatible.

I didn't receive my replacement switch yet but yes, when I tried it at the store with another MS4 switch, it worked as it should.

Hobbyist: please let me know when you get the MS4 proved with the EXP-1 in your home. I need to be sure they work (lights and switches). If they don´t, I won´t expend more money on it.

Thanks.

Really? Because the only designation I can fine is UTL-4.
Can you give me a number so I'll know which one to get?

You definitively need a MS4 footswitch. It's written in the center of the pedal. The one you have is for the G-DEC series.

Really? :) A search for "Mustang Footswitch" from the http://www.fender.com homepage quickly took me to this article which contains the part numbers and other info on the Mustang footswitches.

http://www.fender.com/en-GB/support/art ... ootswitch/

Oh, and the Mustang manual gives the part numbers for the one, two and four button footswitches, with the G-DEC manual listing the part number for its footswitch. All easily available on the Fender website.

And for completeness:
Mustang 3/4/5 Two-Button Footswitch: 0080997000
Mustang 3/4/5 Four-Button Footswitch: 0080996000
Mustang 1/2 One-Button Footswitch: 0994049000
G-DEC ULT-4 Footswitch: 0994070000
