Any progress on this? I'm waiting before "velcroing" it to my pedal board. It's been 3 times it fell on the floor because I forgot it's not hooked up!

Hi bigdee,

I see that you sent an email in. But I did not see a serial number included. Can you please send along another email and include the MS-4's serial number and the amp's serial number? Thanks.

Hi bigdee,

Thanks. I will take a look at that email in a short while.

I realized that my 4 switch pedal is ULT-4, initial code u-1... I bought it by Amazon and never thought it wasn't the right one, cause I choose it like MS4. I live in Costa Rica, so will be hard to return it.

My problems are the same as the other guy, so I hope answer will help both too!.

Regards

Hi ugabin,

Thanks for letting us know. I would suggest that you contact the seller and request that they do an exchange for the pedal as they sent the incorrect pedal if you had ordered an MS-4. Please let us know if we can assist with this.

Was a solution to the OP's problem ever found? I just got an EXP-1 today, and I have a similar issue.

If I turn on my Mustang III with the EXP-1 connected and the MS4 daisy-chained to it, the lights on the EXP-1 do not come on, but it functions, and the MS4 is completely dead. If I turn on the amp with just the EXP-1 attached, it lights up and works fine. If I then plug in the MS4 (with the amp already on and the EXP-1 working), it will also function correctly.

Not yet... Fender suggested me to return my MS4 switch because they think it's the problem. I was busy during past weeks and had some gigs so I didn't have the time to go in the return process. I may try with a friend MS4 first to see if it fixes the problem. I doubt it. If someone has a chance to try this, go ahead!

I will post a follow up as soon as there is something new.

Thanks for the update!

That's a pretty disappointing response from Fender. Especially since I had a big hassle getting the MS4 in the first place.

I was getting all three lighting up and and then no lights and UC-3(?) codes flsahing tonight. I changed the patch cord between the 4 button and the foot switch and it seemed to clear it up.

I went at my local music store tonight and tried another MS4 footswith. It was working fine so the problem is really the MS4.
Next step is to get in touch with TSL and have and exchange.

Alan, thanks for your help.

@Stinger: I already tried different cables and it didn't do the trick for me.

Strange thing though, when I connected my pedal board at the store, (in a different amp) all lights were fine the first time I turned it on. After some other tests, I was still getting the problem.

That's interesting because I contacted Fender by email and described my problem just like I did above. After verifying that I had the latest firmware installed, they told me that I should just unplug my pedals, turn the amp on, and plug the pedals back in. Every time I use the amp.

I asked if this was truly the expected behavior for these products, but I got no reply.

Based on this level of support, my natural response is to just return everything, amp and all, but I already threw away the box that the amp came in. So since I can't do that, I'm planning to keep the amp and the MS4 and return the EXP-1. I'll just buy a decent volume pedal and use a wah that I already have.

I have been a Fender customer since I started playing in the 80s, but I will never buy another thing from them.
