I haven't seen too many opinions yet regarding the EXP-1 pedal for Mustang, so I thought I would share my experiences thus far. I am playing a Fender players strat through a Mustang III, which I have had for about 10 months now.

- I didn't have the calibration problems I have read about others having. Followed the calibration steps and the pedal connected fine.
- The "sensitivity" range seemed to cover the entire range of the sweep of the pedal. So, perhaps Fender has addressed this issue that has been covered here?
- Out of the box, I think Fender should at least provide the initial calibration/connection steps with the product, rather than refer me to the Fuse user manual.
- It worked as advertised connected directly to my MIII or chained to the 4-button foot switch
- One thing I didn't really care for is that you MUST use Fuse to configure any parameter, whether it is volume settings or any of the other effects elements. While I understand why this was implemented this way, it still makes me concerned that although I may have configured the pedal for a gig, there are always changes/tweaks to gear that I tend to make during a gig; I can't do this with the EXP-1 without my laptop, which i am not bringing to any gig, at this point! I wish there would be a least a couple of controls on the Mustang LED, that you could modify in the amp utility menu without the computer.
- Another thing about how the pedal interacts with Fuse, is that when a change to a parameter is made, you have to accept that change before it is applied to the pedal/amp. Now, this is only when you are making changes (modifying wah freq, stompbox gain, etc.), not when it's applied. But, I wish the Fuse software were a little more intuitive in this department.
- Also, gaining access to the EXP-1 configuration dialog box requires the user to go to the utilities menu and then select the expression pedal menu. Not a big deal, but it would be nice if the Fuse software had a pedal "icon" on the main fuse window, just to speed up access to the dialog box....software feature request, maybe?

Those are my initial impressions of the pedal, and there is more testing I intend to do. However, I am probably leaning towards something simpler for my needs. Volume/Wah is what I bought the EXP-1 for, and it is capable of doing so much more; just not sure if I need all that complexity.

My .02

On a PC, CTRL-E takes you directly to the EXP-1 config box so you don't have to fumble through the menu. I suppose there is a similar shortcut for Mac.
