Hi,
First post here so please be gentle

I already have (and love!) a Mustang III and had a II before, so I'm familiar with the range.

I'm looking for a small, quiet amp for late-night practice and need help deciding between the Mini and the I.

The mini is really ideal as it has the battery option, and is smaller too.

But - here's the rub - I play an archtop with a floating pickup and use exclusively clean, jazzy tones (Twin & DR models), and a few small amps have trouble coping with the bottom end this guitar gives out (My Champion 600 pretty much cries above whisper levels  )

Can any owners tell me if the mini's speaker can handle the low frequencies without farting or distorting? It would only be at low (say, TV level) volume nearly all the time.

If it won't I'll go with the I as I'm sure that'll be fine - but I'd rather have the battery option and smaller size of the mini.

Any help much appreciated!

If you just want a practice amp that you do not intend to move around and just keep it in your bedroom for example then i would go for the mustang I but if you like to play your amp outdoors or move it around to other locations then the mustang mini may be better for you.

Thanks, yes those are the conclusions I've already come to - I just need to know whether the mini's speaker can handle the lows I need without breaking up too quickly. There's nowhere nearby I can try them out :)

Playing at "TV" levels, you should be fine using an archtop guitar. The amp is surprisingly loud when all the (advanced) controls are at max volume and the "lows" certainly do not break up at the volume I think you will be playing at.
