Hi Guys,

Is Fender going to add any more Stomp Boxes to the Mustang IV? An Acoustic Simulator would be great.

The first sales flush for the Mustang amps is over and, while they no doubt continue to sell solidly, I suspect that we are getting to the point where a new generation of Fender modelling amps is well and truly in the pipeline, and that some of the goodies we might have hoped for as updates for the current Mustang line, including more amp models and effects, will increasingly be held back and will emerge as selling points for the new versions.

I'd be happy to be contradicted, Alan !

That is a let down for sure if fender is going to do this,i was hoping fender would add more effects and or amp models in fuse and or firmware updates,i am not going to spend any more money on any new modelers from fender or any other brand of modelers except the fractal AXE-FX II FX processor(read below) because i already have the mustang I,V and G-DEC 3,i also have the peavey vypyr 15 and 30w and also a spider I,II and the vox VT20+.

If i ever do buy another amp modeler it will be the fractal AXE-FX II FX processor, this is the most realistic amp modeler in the world right now and if you do not believe me just read the review of it in the july issue of guitar world, even tube snobs could not tell the difference in a blind fold test between there favorite tube amps and the fractal AXE-FX II.

It is not only the amp modeling that sounds good but also the internal effects of this unit, just check out all the pro guitar players that just love and rave about this unit!

This is surely the future of amp modeling and instead of upgrading to a new fender version of the mustang or peavey vypyr for example i know i would be better off selling all
of these amp modelers to buy a fractal AXE-FX II.

How can you even begin to compare any of the mustangs to a $2500 unit? I don't they they are targeted at the same customers. You can upgrade your Mustang 2 12 times for the price of one AXE-FX II, assuming the replacements will also be aroung $200, so if each new Fender amp lasts 2 years, it will take you 24 years to spend the kind of money an AXE-FX II costs. And in 24 years, I bet you that the AXE-FX II is completely outdated compared to a $200 Fender modeller

You missed my point here,it is not just the mustang that i am targeting but all of the other company's that also sell there versions of amp modeling(except fractal).

I do this as a hobby and if i add up the cost of all the other amp modelers i have purchased over the last few years i could have had enough money for the fractal AXE-FX II.

Yes the mustang is a great value and has some good amp modeling but the effects are not that good in my opinion and then you have to spend more money for a better effects unit and then a new version of the mustang may come out and many will sell there current mustang's to get the new one, that is more money you have to spend if you want the newest mustang and this also applies to the vypyrs, vox valvetronix, excetera. Then you have to add the cost of stompbox pedals many add to there amp modelers and other effects and the cost starts to add up.

If you are happy with your mustang's amp modeling and effects then a more expensive unit like the AXE-FX II is not for you but if you are always buying and selling your amp modelers or other amps to try to get most current versions of the fender mustang and other brands of amp modelers mentioned here trying to get better modeling and effects but then you are not really satisfied because another company comes out with a newer amp modeling technology but the claims and hype fall short of what it should sound like and you wind up in this vicious cycle for the best amp modeling tone but then again you are let down.

The fractal is the total package and needs no hype to sell itself.
It is like always buying that cheap stereo or surround system you got for 100.00 but every few years you have to replace it and then you buy another cheap one and you wind up spending hundred's more when you could have just bought a 500.00 or more system that should last you many more years and sound much better then the cheaper system.

Metalman50, where's info on the "blind fold" test for the Fractal device?

Slightly off topic, but ...there are a lot of demos of the AXE-FX II on this forum:

It's amazing how good it can sound in the right hands
